COOL MAPS -- Where the DU donations are coming from @ Thu 4:00PM
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 05:00 PM by Skinner
I thought it would be cool to crunch the numbers from the DU Leaderboard and see if there are any regional trends. Below are two maps, one based on total donations, the other donations per 1 million population.

The first map (total donations by state) isn't really very different from a population map. The most donations are generally coming from the states with the most people.

But this second map (donations per 1 million population) shows some interesting trends. The states seem bluer in the Northeast, Pacific coast, Southwest, and Upper midwest. And the states seem pinker in the southeast and west.

Kinda interesting. For more info, visit the DU Leaderboard:

2. Not as if you don't have enough to do...
But it would be interesting to see a similar demo. map with the residences of DU members.

Thanks for all the hard work, btw.

8. I know WY has good web access.

They need it in winter when they are iced and snowed in for seven or eight months. My sister and her husband live there and he said in 1994 that almost everyone in their little town was wired for excellent web access.

On edit: There sure are a lot of Repukes there, though.

5. perhaps the lavender states, in the GE, are within reach?
I would have thought Pennsylvania and Maine to be less red.

Is that Delaware showing blue?

We always said, about taking a swim in the Chesapeake Bay, it would cure what ailed ya.

When I visited Amsterdam, that's the thing I notices, especially, at night ... the sea air enveloped the streets ... and those Dutch are such good people.
