I'm an underachiever. Just got an e-mail from my sister,
from her work e-mail. Her sig file had her name and all her degrees and certificates and what not...

"Critters' Sister, MSW, LCSW, MISA II, and about 6 more sets of initials..."

Me: Critters, MDiv

Even my dog has more initials after her name. Vegan Beagle CGC, RN

Maybe I should spend less time on DU.

1. When did your dog get her nursing degree?
I'm confused. :)

5. She's just that smart.

No, seriesly, it stands for "Rally Novice". It's a kind of obedience work where you walk a course with exercises along the way. If you do a perfect course on leash, the title is RN. Then if you can do it off leash, it's "Rally Advanced", RA.

She's really good at rally work, and enjoys it. It's what she does in dog class every Monday night. There are several things they can do in the advanced class, but she gets bored with scent work, and is afraid of the tunnels in agility. She'll actually go sit at the beginning of the RAlly Course, if I just let her go where she wants. She likes to do it.

She's only competed once, because I'm not usually free on weekends when competitions are held. But there was a meet closeby late last fall, so I took her over on a whim, and she WOWed the judges, and got her first title.

In class she now does the courses off leash. So, she could easily get her RA.

But she's a damn fine nurse, nonetheless. And so cute in her little cap!

14. Not bad considering she's so malnourished.
You should take her by the pet food store with her scrubs on. ;)

16. It's a wonder she can carry her little body across the floor.
It's neglect, I tell ya! That's what it is!!

She bears up quite well, all things considered! I'm told some parents even try to force this lifestyle on their children! :wow:

:hi:

3. MDiv isn't easy
Twice the hours of an MTh.

See, if you were Catholic, you could join a bunch of orders and have alphabet soup after your name. Just enjoy the austerity of Protestantism and your MDiv.

6. Actually, there is this "order" in my denomination,
http://orderofcorpuschristi.org/

and yes, they put the initials behind their names. But they strike me as kind of silly, and they require their members to wear chasubles in worship, which a)doesn't seem very Protestant to me and b) costs thousands of dollars (and I don't think the order pays for them).

Yeah, an MDiv is something. And I've been accepted to a DMin program, but am trying to figure how to work it into my schedule. Then I could insist people call me "The Reverend Dr.", which is the real point to a DMin.

18. That does sound silly
An expensive garment seems very un-orderly to me, but my favorite orders tend to be mendicant orders.

Now, Opus Dei — there's a really silly order. Try wearing a cilice:

Yeah, you put that puppy around your leg (the spikes point inward) and whenever you're vaguely comfortable or happy, you tighten it. Opus Dei claim to have an "emphasis on cheerfulness," but I think that comes when you take the freakin' cilice off.

I do not recommend anyone join Opus Dei.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=7513519&mesg_id=7513519

But I hope to be zonked out into total oblivion sometime soon. Please keep your fingers crossed that I can get some sleep. This is my third night in a row without enough sleep. :(
