Ok I'm home.... How many people can say that on their very first train ride
the train struck and killed someone!!!!??? hands!?!?!? no one???

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAND RAISED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:30pm on Thursday night...
we hit an "official Amtrak release to train"
last night we had an unexpected stop in NC. At 10:30pm there was a trespasser on the track and the train had to make a sudden stop and we had to wait 90 minutes to take care of the fatality..... there was more but really no specifics.
I guess they were being evasive because there was oodles of kids on the train.
Rode the NJ turnpike to DELAWARE!!!!!!!! waved to Lynnesin as we went over the bridge paying our first of many tolls ($4.00) phew..........

boarded the train and we were off..... ok it was my first train trip... and it was ok... lots of drinking and the food was ok... but it is the most BORING form of transportation in the world..... I have to remember to bring things to do if there ever is a next time.... the only reason I think I would do it is it I had a special someone.... and we spent the time in our room, enjoying the rocking of the train...
(if you know what I mean)

Disney was awesome as usual.... did Its hard to be a bug show... what a blast...
only waited for one ride-Soarin- and it was worth it. they had given out all the fast passes to it so we waited it took 70 minutes from getting online to leaving the ride after it was over. Used fast pass on the Jungle adventure ride and went to eat then go on the ride....
I'll think of more stuff to write and I have ooddlles of pictures
My nieces team did not win the competition but it was an exciting experience..
one I would do again...

sis I tell you my niece who is capt. of her team broke her ankle on Weds night here in n NJ at practice!!! she did make it down with the team and walked out on the mat with them but sat on the side.... kinda sad since this is her last year..

well going to do laundry.... lots and lots of laundry.. I will post more of my exciting adventure as I remember it...
I did not sleep well on the train.....  :silly:

7. Went to Epcot and went on SOARIN
great experiance... then did Honey I shrunk the audience...
got there a little late because we spent the day at Animal Kingdom.
Decided to eat at Epcot and got a glass of wine in France and were going to go eat in Italy but the wait was to long so we went to Germany and ate at the Biergarten.
It was a buffet with teh awsomest food...
then we were leaving just in time for the fire works/laser show.... WOW

10. Epcot is my favorite Disney park anywhere
It feeds my tech geek and my culture geek even if it's sanitized culture. :P I always liked how they hired students that were actually from the countries to work in the pavilions.

6. A "totally freaked-out by flying" friend had an engine explode on his 1st flight.
Seriously. Thank goodness it was still on the tarmac when it happened, but he was seated near the wing with the engine and saw the whole thing up close and personal. To his credit, when they eventually flew off in another plane, he was on board.

9. Yikes! I love the Amtrak though! Of course when I rode it, I was with
my bachelorette party. We met some random bachelor party on there and we partied with them in the smoking cart! That might have helped the trip! Fun fun fun! Of course when my husband and his crew took the same trip the week before, they were delayed and they derailed! You never know!

Glad you are back.

11. I once was on a commuter train that got hit by a car.
Usually it's the other way around and with less pleasant results.
Somehow the fact that a moving train was currently occupying the crossing grade managed to elude the driver.

12. I saw this very thing a few years back (SUV and freight train).
Because you're thinking to yourself, "Clearly she sees the freight train at the flat, treeless, open crossing, with guards down and lights flashing..." Crash!

I heard the whistle.... they blow it at every crossing despite the time of night...

why do people think they can outrun trains...????

our fatality was walking....

they actually said (well when we tipped our steward VERY well)
it was suicide by train....

are safely there. OTOH, I am sorry you find trains so boring. Did much travelling by train in the '60's-'70's...loved it! Sorry to hear about your niece but happy for her she was there anyway.
Ya'll have a terrific time!

since you did a lot of train traveling.....

how on earth did you take a shower???? they are right there in the bathroom....
and it says you might be more comfortable showering while sitting down....

26. I was 8 and slept through the whole thing. Our meal the next day was cans of orange juice and
packets of peanuts from the club car. LOL

Still, I feel so badly that your train killed someone. :( That's so sad.

30. Sucks about the fatality but it sounds like a good vacation otherwize.
I bet that happens more than the public knows. I love the "there was a tresspasser on the tracks" bit too. It's like good cover. We wouldnt have hit him/her if he/she would have been a law abiding citizen.

Glad to have you back, Lost. :loveya:

32. My parents once had to evacuate an Amtrak in the middle of nowhere because
a couple on the train decided to have a knife fight. I think it was a Chicago to Salt Lake route so there's a lot of nowhere between the two. I think they also completely lost power on the same trip but a different day.
