1. Nuke it.
Singed. Not just well done...WELL DONE.

The only way I'll eat it.

24. There's a reason Mortons won't guarantee tenderness
if you order it that way. Bet you've got some really strong teeth.

Oh, well. While you're waiting for yours, I'll have a steak appetizer to get me warmed up for my steak.

26. They are strong teeth!
I like my steak chewy.

Ok, I'll wait a little longer for mine.

But I won't. Not because I'm a nice guy, but because you're a nice guy.

Not bloody, but not all gray inside.

12. Medium rare
I like it pink inside, just barely cooked.

I can't stand meat that's cooked to shoe-leather consistency.

4. I want it dark pink with clear juices...
I can't stand steaks that are all dried out. If I can't chew it, you're taking it back and making me a new one.

or as the French say "bleu".

As you all probably know, the agent that transmits Mad Cow (a prion) must be cooked at 3000 degrees to be rendered harmless, so what the heck?

10. I am probably one of the few women in the world who likes my steak
bloody. I usually order it medium-rare, though, because that gives me more of a margin of error (I can eat it rare, I can eat it medium.)

I finally found a woman who eats her steak as steaks are meant to be eaten! (Pssst. Don't tell my medium rare steak eatin' wife.)

13. Picky-boy sez
it depends on the cut.

A really nice filet should be darned rare; anything more marbled I like a little closer to medium. I like my fat cooked a little. :)

20. precisely
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 11:41 AM by 56kid
as a former steak house cook, I'd say you understand.
filets, medium rare to rare
ribeyes, prime rib medium to medium rare
t-bones "kc (new york) strips medium

oh & in a steak house you should probably order it slightly rarer than you want it because it keeps cooking after it comes off the grill...

14. Medium well
I never really cared for steak growing up. I found out in college it was because my parents both ordered theirs medium, and so that's how they ordered mine. I tried medium well, and it was like a whole new food.

More toward the rare side on a filet, more toward the medium side on a ribeye.

25. I like it rare, my wife likes it well-done...
When we barbecue, I'll put her steak on the grill, then clean out the closet, meditate for a while, change the oil in my car, take a shower, and then put my steak on.

It just works that way!
