5. how about somewhere in between . . .
she IS talented, and she's most definitely had her moments (e.g. around the time of "Rumours") . . . her problem is that, unlike the truly great vocalists who seem to get better with each listening and who you never tire of, when you listen to Stevie repeatedly, she does actually start to grate on you . . .

I really liked her around the time she and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood and thought she made some great music with them . . . now I rarely (if ever) listen to her . . . part of it has to do with how overplayed her hits were when they were making their runs, I suppose . . . quickly got to the point where every time the song came up, I automatically changed the station . . .

6. Love her early stuff with Lindsey and Most of the Fleetwood Mack, but...
...I cant stand most or all of her solo stuff. "Stand Back" is possibly the worst radio hit ever...

7. Love her in spite of herself...
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 04:40 AM by rezmutt
She does have some repetitive vocal mannerisms that can induce serious listener fatigue.

Nevertheless, she has written some terrific songs (overplayed they may be), and inspired a whole new generation of women singers.

In sum, and in spite of her flaws, I 'll always have a soft spot in my ticker for Stevie.

on edit: typos

Great song. The Dixie Chicks version sucks.

11. Good songwriter; so-so singer
I'm thinking "Landslide" etc.

But that's OK. And I do agree her solo stuff gets overplayed. Her voice is rather thin.

(oddly enough, Keith is a very devoted family man - he drives the family van to pick up his kids at school and everything. He's been married to former supermodel Patti Hansen forever.)

24. I'm surprised you didn't offer another option
sometimes one, sometimes the other. Sometimes her pretensions get ahead of her, but there's definitely a gifted songwriter in there under all the fluff.

I've never thought her voice was technically very good, but it is an interesting voice.
