Need your healthy girl vibes for my baby niece...
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 10:08 PM by MrsGrumpy
This is Violet,21 months:

She got really sick with the flu last weekend. She was doing better and then had a seizure. They think it may have been febrile seizure but she wasn't really running a temp. She had another seizure and stopped breathing. They have run CT scans and nothing so far. She seems okay now, but we are really worried. My brother is besides himself. :( I wish I lived closer. Please muster up any positive vibes that this is just some flukey baby thing.

She is a total doll baby!

11. My 13 year old did that to her hair. Violet adores her and wanted to
play dress up. We thought she looked like Cindy Lou too! Thanks Rabrrrrrr. My brother is afraid to sleep for fear that it will happen again, I really wish I was closer so that I could spell them awhile. She's about to be a big sister so Momma needs her rest. :(

5. Absolutely.
My 3yo had the flu in Dec.for 3 weeks. High fever for 6 days. It was a really rough time.

It's one tough virus and lasts longer than most.

Best wishes to you all.

14. Thank you blm. I am glad your little one is doing better. It is so tough
when they are small. She had a low to midgrade fever which is why we were surprised at the seizures. It is one tough virus. She had never thrown up before, poor thing, and had no idea what was happening. :(

Thanks again

Will say a prayer for her and your family. Having a little one go through something like this traumatizes everyone around the child.

My 10-yr-old had a severe and sudden health problem when he was two. He recovered, and I know your little niece will, too. Kids are so sweet and innocent that it makes you question, "Why them?"

Good vibes coming from Mississippi!

44. I just did a visualization treatment on her -
there's a great philosophy called science of the mind (NOT scientology) that I'm somewhat involved with. I did a prayer/visualization treatment that she's already in perfect health. I said her precious name out loud so the spirit up there will take wonderful care of her. Peace - and please let us know when you get back the positive news!

46. **Update for wonderful DUers***
My brother called last night--a phone call at 10:30 can be a scary thing. But they took her to a neurologist and he is not sure if it was febrile seizures or not. He said it could have been caused by dehydration or it may be something else all together. He did say that seizures of themselves are not fatal even though the baby may appear to stop breathing. He told them that after 72 hours without a seizure she will be out of the danger zone. They don't want to give her any anti seizure medicine, so they are taking a wait and see (i.e. stay up all night) attitude. So, for the most part, I take that as positive news and thank you all again for your well wishes. I am feeling somewhat better after talking with my brother.

47. My son had a febrile seizure when he was 18 months old
They can be quite terrifying at the time, but not have any serious or lasting effects.

We were on a crowed train coming back from my parents on Father's Day in 1991. A woman sitting across from me said, there's something wrong with your son. He had a cold and had had a tempurature earlier in the day, I had given him tylenol and was due his next dose when we got home.

but the fever spiked and he had a convulsion. I thought he was going to die, it was very traumatic. We got off the train and onto an ambulance. In the ER they gave him a spinal tap to rule out menigitis.

He was in the hospital for several days, during which time he had a few more seizures - when he was released we followed up with eeg and other tests. All were normal.

We never did find out what caused his fever to go so high, but the good news is - he's now 14 years old and very healthy!!!

I wish the same for your niece. What a cutie!

I am sending to the universe healthy vibes for baby Violet.I will even light my special green health candle, and send my wishes for her good health.I know how bad it can be when your kids are sick,I hope she feels better soon.

(oh and after thought) when I was working with seizure patients we learned that nutrasweet may cause more active seizures. So no nutra sweet(really I'd stay away from all artifical sweetners.)

(oops! posted on Coyuls name again. I'm Purji.)
