Looking for some Levon Helm-esque music
I heard this (sample at link) the other day on the radio

10.Single Girl, Married Girl
http://theband.hiof.no/albums/dirt_farmer.html

It sounds like the kind of continual rolling jangly big rock band sound that would be great on a loop for runs

Anyone have some tips on like music?

Dr. John?

1. I just bought his new album Dirt Farmer
It's very, very good. Traditional music.

I love the Band and The Last Waltz is a live recording of their last concert. It was also a documentary by Martin Scorsese. A great concert movie.

4. You're welcome,
I think 'JJR' is the last Lyle Lovett album I bought, too - but I know he's still fronting the Large Band.

7. Little Feat. My hubby just got Dirt Farmer for his b-day and has
been hunting down lyrics ever since and was playing "Little Birds" on his guitar when I came home from work.
There is a cut on the album, can't remember which one just now, that is really kinda Lowell George-ish.

Cheers!

9. Professor Longhair...
Buckwheat Zydeco.

Both are a little bit more zydeco/cajun than your Levon, but I love them both.

11. Leftover Salmon!
They have a very Band, Little Feat, Americana type sound.

In fact this show has the guys from Little Feat and Peter Rowan on it. "Land of the Navajo" is stupendous as is the song "Willin".

18. Welcome....
Leftover is the most underrated band in history. Their album, Nashville Sessions is a virtual who's who of Americana music. But live, they are just flat incredible....
