My hair dryer just blew up in my hand
That certainly can wake you up! Now I have to run out and buy another and take another shower before I go to work. Guess I'm not going to the gym this morning...

3. Oh, yes, I'm fine, thanks
The sparks were dramatic but I didn't get hurt. And I just bought two dryers so now I have a backup.

2. That happened to me in college.
When the hair dryer blew up in my hand I just stood there for a minute. I thought I had popped into a new dimension because of the flash. Bought a new dryer the next day and it has lasted me 10 years.

4. It certainly isn't something you're expecting
I was struck dumb for a minute too.

5. I've had them flame up and short out.
You never know how hair dryers are going to die, only that they do when you least expect it. I had one go out on me recently and I finished "drying" my hair with my flat iron.

6. The licensed hairstylist in me is coming out here but...
if you can, and you use it often, spend the money on a good dryer (like solano) with a removable lint/hair trap on the back. You can clean it out and it will keep the motor from overheating. I've had many a dryer blow up on me until I put the $ out for a decent one 15 years ago. I still have it.

7. That's a good idea
I'm sure it was the lint, there was a lot. Where would I look for this kind of dryer?

8. You can usually get a good one at Sally.
If I lived closer I'd go to Maly's (pro shop) and pick one up for you. In any case, let me know because I can do that and it will be a bit cheaper for you.

I always keep a cheap spare on hand.

Same thing w/ the coffee carafe for the automatic drip machine.

10. I have a spare now!
My parents do the coffee pot thing too. Not an issue for me because I don't drink coffee but I would if I did.

12. No, but I had to get my hair wet again so I could dry it
Just as easy to get back into the shower.

My hair does not air dry well at all and I have a very important function to attend today.

14. Another lame excuse
for avoiding the gym.

Exploding hair dryer, indeed! "My hair dryer tased me, bro"

Glad you're not zapped!
