Please! Help me find this exact quote. "Those to whom much is given, much is expected in return."
What it means is that if you've been given great gifts, there is an expectation that you will share them with others.

I just can't get a handle on the exact quote and would like to have your help.

Post here or PM me. I'm in the throes of writing some memories down in my journal.

Thanks a bunch!

1. Luke 12:48
"God's judgment is perfectly fair. In this life, some have better opportunities to develop God's character. Others have greater intelligence or natural abilities. God will apply the principle of "to whom much is given, much is required" with perfect fairness." (KJV)

Different versions will vary...

5. Thank you, Petronius. Another example of what I like to call...
The mass mind of the millions -- on the Internet.

2. It's from the Bible (Luke 12:48) and was famously used by President John F. Kennedy:
"For of those to whom much is given, much is required. And when at some future date the high court of history sits in judgement on each of us, recording whether in our brief span of service we fulfilled our responsibilities to the state, our success or failure, in whatever office we hold, will be measured by the answers to four questions: First, were we truly men of courage… Second, were we truly men of judgement… Third, were we truly men of integrity… Finally were we truly men of dedication?"

8. Heidi from Switzerland! You're supposed to yodel, "Radio Lady WHO?"

If it isn't funny, it isn't my fault. Somebody at the DU suggested my name sounded like a yodel. Like those Ricola guys with their cough drops.

On the topic at hand: I probably heard that speech.
Or maybe not. I didn't move to Boston until 1972.
The Massachusetts State Legislature in Jan. 1961. Would C-Span have covered that? :sarcasm:

Thanks so much for your reply.

Peace, love and happiness,

7. Heh. My MIL would say that to me, to highlight her piety
and minimize mine. It would have been funny if it weren't so scary.
