I think.

The one week that Zomby (or was it ZenLefty? I can't remember) did the stats, was the week I was generally up til 4 or 5 am... I think that was the major reason for thread killing.

But a RabrrrrrrBot(tm) that showed up after 30 posts and killed the thread would demand that people be more concise in the threads and not waste posts. :-)
