8. I feel pretty good today,

I have several projects coming. None of which are paying gigs, but oh well. The socialization will still be good. One's a Linux orientation class on Friday. Looking forward to that as I don't know much about Linux.

I've started experimenting with paint. I've never done that before, my sister is the drawer/artist in the family. Got a bottle each of black and white and I'm experimenting with light and dark, shadows. Just goofing around really. But I'm starting to see some forms emerge. I like the organic nature of it.

Had a fun time last night. Our women's group at church put together the traditional Valentine's cookie care packages for the students away at college. These are highly coveted and sought after on campuses all over the country. :D Several times when I was in college, I found my floormates sneaking into my tin! x( :D

Of course you have to sample them all, make sure they're good to send. Don't want no bad tasting cookies going out, no sir. :D Between the dinner, the wine and cheese and the cookies, I came home so stuffed last night I'm eating very little today. :P Just tea for me, please.

Glad you're staying busy. I think I'm just bummed because I haven't seen the sun in 4 days. :-(

Baking care packages is a really nice thing to do.

I want to get back into b&w photography. I did that for a bit in junior high, where we shot, developed and printed our own prints. I enjoyed that...I've got a book or photo essay rattling around in my cabeza...

of your work? Impressive. I would love to learn how to develop film. Is it hard? What does it involve?

I know what you mean about not seeing the sun. I'm more accutely aware of its absence being at home all the time. Being an older home, this house is naturally dark anyway. I have to open up every door, every window to get the most light in during the day.

18. I don't have a real portfolio...

...this was 7th grade. We took pictures of cars and the school, etc. Nothing fancy.

Developing b&w film is incredibly easy to learn. We were 12-year-olds after all. Basically, you load the film into canisters, subject it to various solutions and voila, you have film. Then you cut the negatives into single-size and shoot light through them onto photo paper. Then you stick that in solutions and you have pictures. It seems like a hassle, but it's really not that hard. I'd need to upgrade my camera, I think...but that shouldn't be too hard since I am shooting to film. Finding a darkroom to use might be interesting. Also, I've never developed film to slides, which I'd like to learn.

Now COLOR photography is a pain in the ass, from what I hear.
