BTW: I'll be up all night because ...
Sirius had emergency surgery today. He had surgery two weeks ago for an orange-sized lipoma in his right fore-arm "pit". All was well for ten days. Yesterday he developed a grapefruit+ sized hematoma at the surgery site. This morning they did surgery to put in two drains. He is here now, with an Elizabethan collar, crying his heart out. I've put a pad on he floor by his bed (actually, he usually sleeps in our bed!), and I will sleep right by him tonight. Young Nick-Nick knows old Sirius is ill and is really backing off his playfulness.

1. Give him lots of TLC
It can't be comfortable trying to sleep in one of those collars, not to mention the discomfort from the surgery itself. Poor baby.

6. Give him my love, just...
lay off those freeze dried liver things, tonight. ;)

I love the name Sirius, it was a name of a dog in a book I read called Eminent Dogs, Dangerous Men by Donald McCaig - A very interesting read about border collies.

Our last dog, Billie, had quite a few hematoma drains for a chronic ear problem - no fun for her, nor me...Take care.
