Question for old-timers

I've only been around here for about nine months. The last few months have been insane and not really as fun as the first seven.

Sooo, based on your past experience, is it really going to get better again after the silly season?

I love a good political brawl, and don't mind gettin' my argue on, but this is just stupid.

Please tell me the sanity will come back.

the last 4 years have been a lot of fun, but the primary season has been just weird.

things will calm down for a few days..

Until we get the 3rd party people in here... Usually Greenies, or pushing Nader -- then some of the bedlem starts up again


and then for giggles someone will start a non-smoking thread and demand that the DU be smoke free or some other nonsense

They'll fight each other until a common enemy shows up.

As much as people want to believe this is worse than 2004, I was here and it was exactly the same.

Most of the people posting one liners in GD-P aren't going to do that or be around after the primaries definitely not the GE

Many of the old timers have moved on.
Or died.
I don't hang out here nearly as much as I used to.
IMHO there's been a change in tone and tenor at DU.
We used to have some really interesting exchanges of ideas and discussions (not arguments) in GD.
And the Lounge was more like Comedy Central rather than Dear Abby/Battle of the Obscure (to me anyway) Bands/Lolcat Album.

But I'm a geezer, so what do I know?
