1. In college, my wife was dumped by her then-boyfriend right before V-Day
just so he could ge out of buying her a present. Seriously. He tried to get back together with her right after the holiday.

I believe she spent that Valentine's Day with Jack Daniels and Billie Holiday.

7. glad you're hanging in there
i'm coming off a really hard and stressful week. my grandmother passed unexpectedly and i spent most of last week in new york...i don't think i've ever been so drained in my entire life as i was when i got home.

outside of that, things are just same old, same old

3. :hugs:
I'm sort of in the same boat. He broke up with me right before xmas and then we got back together at Xmas and now this. I'm wondering if there's some validity to the "not having to buy a gift" aspect of it. Grrr, sometimes men are assholes and if they're going to pull shit like that we are SO better off without them. How you doing otherwise? Haven't seen you around in ages.

9. :hugs:
i'm sorry to hear that :(

honestly i'm wondering if that might have anything to do with it, he's dealing with so much stress from being broke we werent even talking and thats kind of what spawned the break up~ but i feel better not having to worry about the drama, even if ill miss him.

i've been doing good, looking for a job, trying to get everything together and all. socializing for once and spending a lot of time with my siblings and my nephew. broke up with my previous boyfriend after a year of abuse, hooked up with this guy and got dumped lol. whatever. the important things are going good. i was moved to a different probation department, which is good, its low risk low management so no more weekly visits or UAs, makes life a lot easier. i've just been a busy girl!

6. I live with a couple of female friends...
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 02:22 PM by jadedconformist
...and valentine's day week has proven to be very challenging for me to get through as I pretty much have to listen to the melodrama and answer questions such as, "Why don't I have a boyfriend?" "Do you think I'm attractive. I mean, really -- if we weren't just friends, would you ask me out on a date?"

SOMEBODY FUCKING HELP ME

I really am not attracted to my friends in that way...
...but that's not to say they're not attractive in their own right. I'm a small sample size so although I didn't want to date them when I first met them, they shouldn't conclude, based on this fact, that they are not date worthy. These women keep me on my toes. haha

14. Be your Valentine...
Buy yourself some good chocolate and some nice flowers. Maybe you can go out with some of your single friends and have dinner and a movie; or just hang out at your place and have an unvalentines party.

I'm so sorry...
It's great that you recognize this is a healthy breakup; but the timing still sucks.

24. I knew somebody who's boyfriend did that to her for years.
Every Christmas without fail. And usually Valentines day too.

On top of that he was an asshole when he wasn't being a cheap bastard.

She finally wised up and decided that he wasn't worth the misery.

26. Yeah, Some of the best gifts are inexpensive or free.
Like the time my son brought me home some blackberries in his water bottle he'd picked for me while out riding his bike. He knows I like them and it's something he had to look for and take time to do.

And he's a teenager so anytime they aren't actively ignoring you is special all in itself. :D

i think my favorite so far is when my ex just picked a couple of wild flowers on the way home from work, i thought it was pretty sweet because he trekked through some mud and weeds to get to 'em and it was just a regular day :D
