In case anyone is curious what this "Hide Lounge" function is...

People -- including many Lounge lizards -- keep asking me to remove Lounge threads from the Latest page. I have never wanted to do that, I have repeatedly said I wouldn't do it, and I have no plans to ever do that.

But I don't see any harm in allowing people to choose not to see Lounge threads if they don't want to. The "Hide Lounge" function lets people hide Lounge threads if they don't want to look at them. It's all part of our efforts to let our members personalize their DU experience, and experience this place in the way they want to.

So you have nothing to worry about.

7. I stand by my original objection

as stated. This singles out the Lounge when there are plenty of other forums that some people would like to be able to hide, like the Gun Dungeon or Israel/Palenstine. Why not the option to hide them? Or better yet why hide any forum at all?

If people don't want to see the Lounge threads they already have a perfectly good option...don't click on them.

especially on I/P. I'm much more concerned with Irish issues(and there is a lot going on over there),and would prefer not to see I/P threads because it makes it seem as though these issues are more important than others...and to me,they are not.

15. The reason I thought "hiding" it was a good idea is this..

When you invite someone to visit the site,and they click Latest , as a new person, it's kind of hard for them to see that we are a serious "news/opinion" site, when there are several "odd" thread titles.. often involving yaks, thongs,and any number of other "fun" stuff..

WE all know what the Lounge is like, but to a newcomer, it might turn them off :shrug:



New lurkers will not even know about , let alone use "hide"..

Personally, I never go to Latest or Home ..so it's no biggie..:)

So, give members the option of hiding all the forums, not just the Lounge.

Some people don't like "The Lounge" titles appearing on the "Latest" page. Isn't that just to bad? Shall we list some of the "mind expanding" & "pithy" thread titles from other forums? It wouldn't take long to compile a list.

Right now.. there is a DEMAND for this feature, whether YOU like it or not. Responding to a demand with more flexibility is great. It doesn't hurt you one fucking bit. And its absurd to get pissed off because other people can now CHOOSE not to see something they don't want to see.

1.There are always going to be be people complaining about forum content.
