2. Were you drinking?
I've found that a couple beers improves my game. Therefore, my second game is almost always better than my first.

I also suck at bowling. If not for brute force, hurling the ball as hard as I could so the tiny number of pins I hit bounce and hit other pins much more, I'd score a 13.

5. just like darts
I do much better if I take my glasses off - it's all about using the force. wearing an athletic jersey also helps.

7. It works in pool too.
There is a definite "pool window", between about the second beer and the fourth or fifth before the game drops off again. I don't drink, so when I play my brother I find it really hard to keep up with him once he enters the pool window.

6. I can't make that work for me.
I have no strength in my arm (and probably no technique either) so if I try to bowl it fast it just goes straight down the gutter. So I have to try to aim it instead, although often even then it still goes down the gutter.

My co-worker who got 158 on his second game claimed it was the beer that did it. I didn't drink anything, so I claim my second game was pure jam. I got two strikes in a row twice, which is why I got the score I did.
