Shopping for clothes.
I actually sort of enjoy it.
Yeah, that's right.
As long as I can find things that fit.

Like, this lace up skirt:

Or the cute gold knit tunic sweater I found for like, $20
And the grey plaid knee length skirt with bustle pleats for $10

Yep. That's all.

5. Not much
Unless it's a brand I'm really familiar with. Fits are so different from brand to brand, and even style to style.

When I was more overweight than I am now, I had clothes that ranged from a size 14 to a size 18 (fitting smaller than most US size 14s that is)

Now, I can go from an 8 to a 14 depending. So it's hard to shop online :)

6. No
If anything, worse. The last two days I've had to use a cane because my right leg won't support my weight.

I have an appointment with a specialist on the 14th, and I've been seeing my regular doctor, a homoeopathic doctor, a chiropractor, and a er.... damn what's it called.... some other kind of Dr for bones and joints and muscles, but not a traditional doctor... I seriously am having a major brain fart and can't remember.

Oh, and I'm getting massage therapy and I'm getting a prescription for physio.

It's a nightmare.

3. hate it.... with a huge capital H HATE
I can never find what I'm looking for. And most of the clothes are designed for 14 year old girls.

Lately, however, I find great pleasure in buying nice clothes for my son and his new job. Jackets, shirts, ties... I'm awesome at picking out ties.

I'm beginning to think I should start wearing men's clothing.

7. I miss mens clothes
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 02:11 PM by GirlinContempt
I can't wear them any more because of proportions.

Maybe, go out looking just for clothes? Like, with nothing specific in mind, try some things on. I know lots of my stuff had NO hanger appeal, but I tried it on because of colour or price, and it ended up being really lovely on....
That skirt pictured is about 400x cuter on than in that awful picture :D

Or, maybe you just don't like it. That's ok too :)

13. just that certain things will never look good on me

I'm short, a little on the round side. I've got hips and thighs. I can't wear any pants w/ tapered legs... makes me look like I'm nothing BUT hips.

Same thing w/ the skirts where the pleats all start right at the widest part of the thigh. What the hell happened to the A-line skirt or dress?

Last year, I found a denim skirt that was cut right... but it was all "washed out" in the butt.... why would anyone wear that?

Low rise, light washed, tapered legged jeans.... the shelves are stocked w/ them. And lots of T-shirts that don't cover the tummy. Apparently people over 16 don't buy clothes.

I'd love to buy an empire waisted shirt. It'd be nice to find one that actually covered my breasts.

Button-down blouses... great. They should cut in a little at the waist, to be slenderizing. But then I have to deal with the pockets on the boobs. I do not need to add any kind of padding to my chest, thank you very much.

If they want to put pockets somewhere, how about in the pants? Never in a million years would they make men's pants w/o pockets, but that's what we get!

Even worse... things that zip on the side. Those of us w/ short arms and big boobs have a hard time reaching around the twin peaks to zip that stuff.

And why, in the summer, are all the clothes black?

I hate shopping. I got a sewing machine for Christmas... now I need to learn how to use it.

15. Hm
I find lots of jeans that aren't skinny leg, lots of tops that cover the midrif, I have a few skirts with pleats just at tbe very bottom, like a ruffle but... pleats... I found actually lots of a-line and tulip skirts today. I can't wear button down shirts. Lots of my pants have pockets, but only the stretchier kind. Otherwise, they gape and make me look hells of fat. Lots of women don't like pants with pockets for that reason, I can sympathize :)

Maybe just try some different stores. Winners (Canadian version of TJ Max) always has a huge variety of styles, sizes, cuts and colours. Nygard, Liz Claiborne, Olsen, places like that often have nicer fits. A lot of the time, you just have to alter things. Sleeves are too long, pants are too long, skirts are too long, something needs a nip in at the waist or a tuck in the hip. It's almost impossible to find really truly properly fitted clothing without adjusting them.

Just some suggestions :)

4. I like to... perhaps a little too much.
I've found some great deals at Macy's clearance sales and Ragstock.

8. Clearance sales are awesome.
My favourite designer label is so expensive, I can only shop on sale, but then not only do I get gorgeous, ethically made high quality clothing, I also get a great deal :D

I fear that after 2+ months, there is no hope of a speedy recovery. Just hope of any kind of recovery at all :(
