I Bought a Cuisinart - Will I use it?
To be honest, I don't really understand what a food processor even is, other than it can crush ice and stuff. But I'm trying to develop some new recipes and some of them call for me to throw things into a food processor.

Can anyone tell me if this is a "worth-it" purchase, or will it go the way of the salad shooter? I haven't used it yet so if it WILL be a total waste of space, I can still return it.

8. Then there's many things you can do with it
Everything from grating potatos for potato pancakes, puree, grating cheese and breadcrumbs for italian recipes, making pesto which can go on pasta or meats and seafood, scalloping vegetables for soups...loads of uses..slicing large quantities of vegetables such as mushrooms in a nanosecond..whipping heavy cream or the like.

I use mine quite regularly

3. I use mine - when I cook a pot roast
with onions, garlic and celery, I put all those cooked ingredients in my Cuisinart and liquify them. I then add them back into the pan for the gravy. It thickens and the flavor is wonderful!

5. Eggplant Creole.
The recipe is in the Times Picayune Creole Cookbook, for which you may need interlibrary loan. Change it in one way: instead of dicing the eggplant, cut in sticks and slice the sticks crosswise with the curly slicer thingy. Just like Dydee's of Oppalousas used to serve!

7. I use mine all the time
I use it for sauces, for making fresh bread crumbs, for chopping things and mixing things, for pureeing soups, etc. Very versatile.

9. I've had mine for almost 20 years now... and still use it. Not as much as
I used to, but I do find it valuable...

In fact I wish I had a reason to buy a new one, but this one still works so good, I can't bear to get rid of it. Best $20 I ever spent at a yard sale, eh?

11. I have a food processor attachment
for my hand blender. It's a bit small, but it works like a champ. I use it at least 4 times a week. Hand blenders are a staple appliance, I couldn't live without it.

12. We use ours mostly to grate cheese
I guess that tells you something about our diets! Also that we are lazy!

13. I sold mine. All it did was beat up my peppers and onions
I used to cook huge batches of bean burritos for lunch and bought it to prepare my vegetables. I was disappointed. I had to pre-chop the peppers, onions, etc, and they still came out as big, beatup chunks.

16. It was a "Junior" model from about 1997
It had about a 2 cup capacity and slicer/vegetable chute attachments for the top. I think they called it Junior or something like that, but it was a cusinart brand product. I never used it to make juices, perhaps that was its forte'.
