Manu Chao popular in the USA?
I'am really interested about this question. In Germany, France or Spain, actually the hole western Europe, he's really popular. To his last concert in France came about 130.000 people. Perhaps more, I think they stop counting. For me (and others), he's the voice of world music, the voice of another world. A fair world. In South-america he was much more popular than in Europe, over 100.000 listeners per concert are common.
Examples for his songs are:
-Bixo
-Lagrimas de Oro
-Mentira
-Me gustas tu
Two albums:
Clandestino and Proxima Estación Esperanza are famous.

Did you ever hear anything of him?
I don't ask as a fan, I'am asking for political reason.
Because I think, such music never had a chance in the USA. Too political.

1. I love his stuff
and so do some of the other people around me
but I don't know about any big following
I always turn people onto his music when I get a chance

I guess part of the problem is that most of it is in spanish

2. it's funny
when he plays in europe, there're immediately over 100.000 fans. And out of spain, the most people didn't understand this language. But most of the people understand his message.
But I like know how "famous" he was in the USA. I think nobody knows him. Every European or south-american should know him.
It's only a test.

Today I'am an addict of Placebo "allergic".
