Are you a Real Chicagoan?
Take this quiz assembled by Tribune columnist Eric Zorn to see if you qualify (or can pass) as a true Chicagoan and not just one of those people who've happened to live here for a long time. Some correct answers are worth more than others, and you may lose points for guessing. Please, no googling and no wagering!

(I missed 2, for a score of 196 out of 216 possible. What an idiot!)

1. 107. Apparently I am a "Faux Chicagoan". :-(
Actually, I think I am just too young. Most of those questions were geared toward people who grew up in the 1950s and 1960s.

Score: 107 points. --out of a possible 216 points. Watch a few more episodes of "Chicago Stories" on Public TV and no one will know you are a Faux Chicagoan

Having spent the first 22 years of my life in Chicago (1968-1990), this score is a bit disappointing.

7. "Are you a Real Baby Boomer?"
Too many questions from the Baby Boomers' childhood days, and way too many sports questions.

8. You're right...
You DO have to be old (I'm not sure about male) to do well on this. From Zorn:

Some participants have e-mailed to say it's too easy; others to say it's too hard. A criticism I'm taking to heart is that the quiz skews old and male -- that is, 50-year-old men are likely to score best. This is probably because my advisory panel was heavy with men and those who are close to 50 years old.

"Eve," who is under 30, writes: "My conclusion: according to your quiz, you must be at least 45 years old to be a Real Chicagoan, and even then you're not guaranteed. How about designing a quiz for Real Chicagoans born after 1965?"

She has a point. My idea was to compose a quiz that, before I started researching it, I was likely to fail.

Perhaps if I get really ambitious I'll work up separate quizzes for each decade-- "Are you a Real Chicagoan of the 1980s?" and so on.

If you have suggestions for decade-specific questions going back to the 1950s and if you have ideas for questions that are more female oriented for Part II of the Real Chicagoans quiz, already in the works, please e-mail me and include the correct answers.

9. Hmmmphh! Need registration, eh? Well, I don't need no stinkin' quiz...
my mother's family were all architects & architectural engineers. They built Chicago, gosh darn it all. Also, true Chicagoans: have you had fish sandwichs from the fish sandwich shop out near the end of Navy Pier, to the right? Is your favorite pizza from Geppeto's (or did I just date myself badly?)
