Poll question: When do you work out?
I use to only work out in the evenings, but recently I've started getting up earlier to work out in the morning and I'm starting to enjoy it. So, I was just wondering when other DUers fit exercise into their schedules.

Second question which won't fit in the poll is whether you work out at home or belong to a gym. My basement is only half finished so I've filled it with exercise equipment instead. I find it much easier to work into my schedule that way and there's nobody around to impress with what I look like. So, where do you work out?

1. Directly after work.
If I go home first, I'll get lazy. To answer the second part of your question, I belong to a gym. I don't have room for exercise equipment.

6. I have a gym in my house
:hi:

Not that I am too keen to work out but sitting in front of the monitor for 12 hours a day is not good for my health. So I turned one of the empty rooms into a gym and I work out every day for at least 40 minutes. Usually in the afternoons but sometimes in the mornings.

8. 5 a.m. for about an hour and a half
Working out in the morning jacks up your metabolism all day. That's a good thing.

The gym is the least crowded. A good thing, because I hate waiting for a bike or a machine.

Another good thing: at 45 I can still have the occasional food orgy with pizza and ice cream, 'occasional' being the operative word in this case.

On the downside: I never get to watch Letterman or the Daily Show. I only hear about them here.

10. On my lunch hour
I put on my sneakers and walk all around town. I started at about 30 minutes and I'm now up to 45-50 minutes.

On weekends hubby and I usually walk mid-morning.

Inquiring minds need to know!

My wife and I have to go to the market, our cupboards are *really* bare!

12. Prefer 9:00 p.m. or so on weeknights; 4:00 p.m. on weekends...
Maybe it's my terminal night-owlism, but I'm just getting going around that time.

On weekends, 4:00 p.m. is a good time -- have had a good sleep-in, run some errands, and can get the workout in before any evening plans.

However, if I didn't have to work (hah!), I'd probably go to the gym about 4:00 p.m. every day!

BTW, Friday nights at the gym are great! Nobody's there!

13. After work.
Go home, change, air the tyres and get gone for a few hours B4 I eat (and I have a YUMMY <sarcasm> Clif Bar while I'm out)

Of course, this time of the year I MIGHT ride the hamster wheel a coupla times a month....

15. In the spring
Winter: gets dark too early
Spring: nice! run in the evenings every once in a while.
Summer: too hot
Fall: too much inertia from the summer heat

Oh, you meant what time of day, not what time of year.

16. I try to work out in the mornings, but...
getting up at 5am is not always easy. So sometimes I work out in the evening, after work. Of course, that's if I don't get sidetracked and skip it altogether.

Oh, and I work out at home. If I used a gym, I'd NEVER work out.

19. Do you have time to take a shower?
I do a lot of interval training on my bicycle (since it's winter here, I have a trainer) and I am literally drenched when I get done. I would never be able to get a workout and a shower in at lunch.

How do you do it?

22. I live in CA and swim at lunch, and
I take 90 minute lunches and either come in early or stay late. My boss doesn't care how long I'm gone, just that I get my work done.

20. I fit it in about twice a year
...whether I need it or not!

When I actually was exercising, it was always after work. I won't get up one minute earlier in the morning for ANYthing.
