Does anyone here do kick boxing.
I have decided to try it and wanted to know what to expect.

1. My boys are enrolled in "kenpo karate" or kenpo jitsu. The black belt
club school they attend also offers kickboxing. I have considered joining a class while my kids are in class. It looks like a terrific form of exercise. They all sweat their butts off. I am in relatively good shape, but it looks like it would be hard.

Sorry, I really didn't answer your question. I don't do kick boxing but I "watch" it a couple times a week. I would say expect to be sore for awhile! You will probably be really limber if you aren't already!

2. I don't, but have read that Nicole Kidman does and the sport
helps her maintain long, slim legs.

3. Well considering that I am only 5' tall and don't think I could
ever have Nicole Kidman's legs. Oh well, I just want to get this 40 year old body in much better shape.

4. Depends on the trainer-
Expect a 150% cardiovascular expenditure and some weak muscles.

Little tiny muscles that rotate your hip bones in the sockets take it worst.

Expect an intense ab workout, and an overall trim and tone of the trunk, in addition to definition everywhere.

The combat part should take a while to ease into - if they have you doing full-contact on day 1, you have the wrong trainer. But after you stretch and get the basics, make sure they have you in headgear, gloves, shinpads and footpads before the kickboxing begins.

I blew out the skin on my big toes repeatedly until they calloused, so pack some tape in case that happens.

Best workout - ever, and I've done several. But not for the weak of heart. You will get pushed if you get the right trainer.

7. The class I'm looking at is for beginners.
No contact and just the basic moves. I thought that is where I should start so I don't kill myself.
