5. 2 cats
One is Changtang, named for one of the more remote geographical regions of Tibet. Her brother, Bimini, died last year. He was named for Gary Hart's little fling with Donna Rice.

The other is Kezia Carr McGrew -- she's a full-blooded Maine Coon cat and was named after a conglomeration of Quaker ancestors of mine. It turned out she was a bit of a terrorist as a kitten and so we decided she was probably the only registered Quaker terrorist that ever existed. She goes by Kez most often but totally recognizes McGrew as her name. And 'Carr McGrew' is used when she does something good, as in "karma grew."

Fly
(Maxwell)

Poor Max is in parentheses because he went out Friday night while it was still relatively warm out and has not been seen since. I had a husband like that once. We have been canvassing the neighborhood, but as of now, no sign. We live on a little peninsula, he can't have gotten far. I hope nothing bad has happened to him, he is probably at some little old lady's house, I hope.

33. Yeah, but it's sad
My Awsi is full of pep, prancing like a puppy, but he's all but deaf and going blind. He has a hard time following me around the house and is relying on his sniffer for almost everything. Pretty soon I'll have to put scent around the house to help his bearings.

I love that name, Sweetie! With good health she should make 14+. My friend's poodle managed 18. Plus toy poodles are much less prone to cataracts than miniatures like Awsi. His eyes were too soft for the cataracts to be removed.

30. 6 dogs
Buddy(ukn age, beagle mix?), Angel (ukn age ukn mix) and their daughter PD (about 1 1/2yrs old. All three were rescued from a neighbor after his house burned down and couldn't take the pets with him. Shortly after they arrived (two weeks), Angel gave birth to Larry and Curly. One week later PD gave birth to Moe. The pups are right around 4 month old now- still cute and entertaining!

I have decided to keep all the pups. As a matter of fact today is my appointment at the Cascade Animal hospital to have the two girls spayed and get all the dogs up to date on shots. I plan on having the boys fixed when money allows.

48. a cat and a quarterhorse (woohoo pics included!!!)
Cat - Mizuki. We adopted her last year from the Manchester NH humane society. Our original rules were : No cat in bedroom, no cat in home office.

Of course, being a cat she spends all her time in my home office and sleeps under the covers between Mrs. McLargehuge and I at night. She loves me to death, she's like a dog because she gets all freaked out when I leave.

When we picked up Mizuki the animal shelter folks said they thought she couldn't be much more than two years old. When we first took her to the vet (for a skin condition) he said "this cat hasn't been two years old in at least eight years!"

Her is Mrs. McLargehuge and Ian McLargehuge riding atop our 22 year old quarterhorse Dallas. Her registered name is Fast Wrap.

80. One 3 year old kitty
whose name is Jewels Tyler. The rescue place found her in the street of Pomona when she was about 6 months old. They had already named her Jewels. However, I really liked the name Tyler. So that's how she got her name. Some of my friends call her Jewels or J.T. for short but I ALWAYS call her Jewels Tyler - God, I love that critter!

81. 'Dandy' the cutest little sheltie mix
dog in the World. :-) I found him at the shelter (wasn't even looking to get another pet) saw him and thought, 'that is the dandiest' little dog' and ended up adopting him. I also have two tortoises that I inherited named 'Mr. T' and 'Thunder'. :-)

82. An Akita, eh?
I had one once, but had to give him up to a friend. The industrial-size poop became too much to endure, as I was living in an apartment, and he couldn't quite get the hang of doing it all outside.

We have two dogs now: a basset hound named Muggsie (originally named Magoo) and a little terrier named Albert (after Albert Einstein--hoary eyebrows and a full moustache).

96. Well, he does attack dogs when they get too close
...not to mention that he used to keep getting himself into fights absolutely all the time (but never lost), so I suppose there are similarities, he-he!

87. 3 current cats
Nancy - for Nancy Sinatra (because she has "boots that were made for walking")
Angelique - shelter cat, arrived with the name Angel Marie, and MrMatt didn't like it, but we felt she needed a name similar.
Stanley - 6 year old daughter named him after the cartoon character.

Bettina (deceased) - named for the academic dean at my alma mater (they both had grey hair).

88. Reba
She is my mixed-breed dog. I was reminded of the name Reba because of the country singer, but didn't really name her Reba because of the country singer - I like the name and think my dog looks like a Reba.

89. 2 dogs....
German Shepherd/Sharpei mix named Ginger (mommy's baby)
Miniature black lab named Julie (daddy's girl)

We got Ginger as a small puppy, a guy my wife went to school with nearly ran her over one morning, told my wife about her and well....

Julie was my wife's gift to me on our 4 year wedding anniversary. She's a lab mix probably, but she looks like a miniature lab, she's so cute.

Other dogs we've had:

Punkin - first dog we ever had, she just disappeared one day. I like to think she's in someone's yard somewhere. She was sweet, but so dumb...another daddy's girl.

Buddy - stray that my wife took in. We nursed him back to health only to have some college age neighbors think it would be "funny" to shoot him with pump action BB guns. They did and he died immediately. I'd give anything to give those SOBs a dose of their own medicine.

17 puppies, yes 17. Ginger had 2 litters. My wife and I were there for the birth of everyone of those little wiggly things. We loved having puppies. We ended up keeping 2 from the first litter, Bella and Cricket. We weren't able to keep them when we moved last, but we took them to a no-kill shelter. They were both adopted within a week. I know that they are happy.
