I am reading the book "Unfinished Murder: The Capture of a Serial Rapist" about Ronnie Shelton who raped over 50 women in the Cleveland area back in the 80s. It is really a pretty decent book and the writer does a good job at pointing out how bad the CPD was at trying to solve this.

I remember it happening, but not clearly. I do remember meeting him the one time when he was with my sister and brother-in-law at one of our bars we used to hang at. He hung out w/ my brother-in-law who told me later that Shelton used to be with him out at the bars and would always leave for a bit and come back. My bil just thought he was going out to grab some coke or something and here he was probably raping more women. Weird... My sister told me that he drove her home to my parent's one night when she didn't feel well, luckily she was pregnant at the time I guess.

The asshole got 3,198 years in prison. About 30 of his victims banded together and testified against him. The book is worth reading for a few reasons. One is seeing how, when different police departments can't work together, innocent people pay. Another reason is reading about the victims and the way they got together and faced their attacker and decided not to let them settle out of court.

Well, that's my half-assed review of the book. I don't know if it's out of print, but you can still get it.
