Question for flvegan and other dog trainer types
Our eight-month-old Border Collie, Mick, becomes aggressive when Haruka does Paula Abdul dance impressions along with American Idol.

Should we put him to sleep or is Haruka just really bad at Paula Abdul impressions?

1. most behavior issues require training the owner more than the dog! n/t

4. Yeah -- Haruka requires lots of training
That's why I always keep my wife on a leash in public.

2. Definitely time for euthanasia.
Haruka must suck at Paula Abdul impressions. Best to put her down before she figures it out.
:silly:

12. Mick is awesome
He's a smooth-coat though, from working lines, so he doesn't quite look like that.

And, here's one from a herding lesson. Although, Haruka does the handling now, not the trainer.

Here he is looking insane, playing tug-of-war.

30. ACK! I was thinking I'd sent them to you!
Mea culpa!

Heavy weed smoking in college has killed most of my short-term memory brain cells.

He's bigger and broader now -- much more muscular. And the fur around his neck is a little bit "ruffed."

28. This is my ex-lover's Border Collie
Her name is Daisy. She is always trying to herd the cats! When a stranger comes to the door, she will bark her head off...when the stranger leaves after a visit, she will cry because the stranger is gone.LOL

8. maybe you just need to get another border collie
so they can herd each other. Or double-border-collie-eye her into submission.

18. lucky puppy - good for you!
I have a 1/2 border collie 1/2 german shep. But he's never been interested in sheep we've drive by in the car. Squirrels are his favorite to direct.

I also volunteer for border collie rescue so I couldn't resist some shameless advertising.

21. Mick is a rescue dog
We had applied to several border collie rescues. A friend of a friend let us know about Mick. He was dropped off at a kennel with his (excellent) ABCA papers for running around and chewing on things. About a week after we got him, we got approved for the official rescues we applied to.

Haruka (the wife) LOVES German Shepherds. I don't trust them, though.

24. good GSDs are hard to find...
too many of them as purebreds are anxious fear biters or have health problems. My two boys are 1/2 GSD mutts (as far as I can tell) and they seem to have many of the good shepherd traits without too much of the bad. They're a bit too protective of me when they're on leash walks, but they're fine with all people and dogs otherwise. I swore I'd never own either of those breeds, but now I have two half GSDs and a half border collie so you never know I guess.

Lots of video.

See, he's so predictable, I can do his pevy responses for him. He should pay me so he can spend more time drooling on his car.

He should grow out of drooling on his car in about six years...I think. Haruka just hit year five owning the Saab, and she still drools on it.

Actually, he just jumped up on her and play bit, which he doesn't normally do.

Nothing we can't handle. Just thought it'd be a funny thread. Anyway, he listens to her much better than me.

35. hehehehehehhehehe -- and, it really happened!
She was dancing like Paula Abdul while we had "American Idol" on, and Mick danced with her for a while and then got over excited and play bit her arm... he did it to me once when I was playing around punching a heavy boxing bag. He's a good dog... and he dances better than both Haruka and Paula Abdul.

22. Wolfgang's my border collie mix...
I'll never forget the time I had a quartet rehearsal here. The violist, a mysoginistic asshole, was freaked out first by the dog barking when he knocked on the door, and second by the fact that Wolfy wanted to check out the company, and make sure everybody smelled ok. When the dog came close to the asshole, he shouted, "That is an AGGRESSIVE dog!" :eyes:

Like try to lay on the back of the couch. The cat weights 10 lbs., Mick weighs 40+.
