Free the HALO 81!!!!
Apparently, the marketing department at my kids' high school is a little, shall we say, slow on the uptake and the kids were bored so one of the boys brought in Halo and they've been playing it for the last few weeks. Yup. I said weeks. :wtf:

Anyhoo, they got caught yesterday and 81 kids were given ISD. 63 of them Seniors. And, a sophomore who I apparently gave birth to 15 years ago.

I have to tell you, I know this makes me a bad parent, but I think this is hilarious. What the hell was the teacher doing while these kids were playing Halo on the computer class after class.

I'm gonna get a shirt made up that says Free the HALO 81. That should go over big up there. They have zero sense of humor.

3. 81 kids -- out of how many?!
More importantly: were they listening to that devil music by Buffalo Springsteen or whatever?

5. Playing during class or after-school?
If it was in-class, I can see their point although the punishment seems extreme.

After-school? I'm glad they didn't run my HS. We not only used to play Unreal Tournament over the LAN, but several of the teachers used to play WITH US. One of them, we'll call "K" because I'm not trying to get him in trouble, was the school's resident hardass/parking-lot coordinator/study-hall and detention proctor.(We all thought he was a dick, but it was his assigned role to be the "bad cop".) Oh man, we used to love fragging him. In retrospect, it probably kept him from being assaulted with a traffic cone.

Boys will be boys. It's a good way to get the rage out, and it put the "loners" into a socialized situation where they could be mediated and monitored until they weren't the outcast. Geeks, Jocks, Goths, Punks, fellow faculty members...it was fun for all.

P.S. The old bastard got us more than we got him. He used to kick our collective asses.

6. During. Which was wrong.
But, in fairness to the boys, how did it go on for so long? Apparently, it's been going on since after Christmas Break. How could the teacher be that dense?

Disclaimer: I taught high school for 10 years, so I'm familiar with a classroom setting.
