Meet the Beatles! It was 40 years ago today. . .
And, my good friends, Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play. I remember it well; many here don't, of course. I bought Sgt. Peppers the first day it came out (1967). Hard to believe the Beatles went from the moptops of 1964 to Sgt. Peppers in 1967. Everything happened so fast, then. Your thoughts, and memories?

1. Oh well I...
... was born in 1966, so missed out on the Beatles early days, but have loved them since I can remember hearing music, and always will. The fact that their recent greatest hits compilation (2001) sold boatloads is just a testimony to their talent.

2. I love the Beatles
born in '63 (Coincidence?) Great music. Great people. The Beatles started out like any other talented group, except that they got the record industry backing and hype, that so many other artists don't get. The Beatles took that same music industry and turned it upside down when they started their own production company and retained all of the rights to their music, which was unheard of at that time.
United Artists had done something similar for the motion picture industry previously, and it would take people like Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, and Gerry Seinfeld to do the same for the television industry.
The Beatles also served as an inspiration for a whole generation of Americans, who helped make this a better country back in the 1960's and 70's.
And there was the music too. They started out as commercial pop artists and grew into extremly talented, fiercely independent artists. I just love that band!
Watch "The Compleat Beatles" for the best concert documentary I have every seen about the band.

3. Born In '53
My parents vacationed in NYC to attend the World's Fair and I met a girl my age in the lobby who wanted to attend a concert in Shea Stadium.

Exit: Strauss Waltzes, Polka Music and Elvis....

Hello: Beatles, Rolling Stones and New Orleans Jazz....
