1966.
Bob's onstage with The Band, minus Levon Helm (Mickey Jones is on drums).
"The Royal Albert Hall Concert" was actually held in Manchester, but one thing was certain...there were some in attendance who didn't appreciate Electric Bob. The first half of the set was acoustic and people seemed pleased, but as the second set descended things got electric and things got loud and many Brits got pissed.
In a now-famous exchange, an audience member yells "JUDAS!" at during the lull that followed "Ballad Of A Thin Man." Someone else yells "I'm never listening to you again, ever!"
Dylan responds with "I don't believe you...You're a liar." He then turns to the band and shouts "play fucking LOUD" as they jump full-throttle into a snarling "Like A Rolling Stone."
And that's the secret of life.
When your critics come looking for a piece of your ass, play it fucking LOUD.
