Why I don't like Windows Media Player

I put in a CD I legally bought and own.

It comes up with the cover print, basic details, song list...

And a button that says "Buy Now".

1. WMP has taken a sudden objection to my ripping anything off of my legally-obtained CDs.

I am pissed, especially since it seems to be ONLY my copy of WMP--the WMP on my dad's laptop rips all day long if you ask it to.

It takes forever to load and it is much harder to use than Itunes.

3. itunes started up nice, but oneday it became corrupt and I had to reinstall...

It warned me how IE, explorer, and other windows components might cease to work... never mind the 128k file compression itunes uses is pretty lame when other vedors sell lower-compressions WMA and MP3 files. itunes' format still isn't bad, but I'll take the larger file size for the same amount of money and still end up with better net quality - again, at the same price.

I'll likely stick with the player that came with my Fatal1ty sound card.

WMP has its strengths, but why is it asking the obvious?

iTunes is a huge resource HOG and ridiculously kludge interface. I hate Apple software. x(

Not to mention that every other week it tries to download a 50MB update to make it compatible with an iPhone that I don't have. x(

5. Might this have something to do with the Sony/BMG lawsuit...?

They are now claiming that consumers have no right to rip CDs they own...according to Sony, if they want the music on their computer or portable player, they are supposed to buy MP3s of the same songs from iTunes or wherever (presumably, one copy for each device, of course). :crazy:
