To realize how good the Daniel Craig version of "Casino Royale" is...
One only needs to see the original...which is on BBC America right now.

I don't know why I'm watching this...maybe I have a subconscious love of cinematic train wrecks or something. All of this talent...for this mess. Seeing poor Deborah Kerr in this, for example. It still sort of boggles the mind.

The Burt Bacharach score is great, though.

1. Never saw the orignal.. just watched the new one for the first time..
I thought it was great - but when it comes to Bond Movies, i'm not to hard to please. Daniel Craig was yummy.. blonde doesn't matter to me!

2. The original was the CBS TV episode from 1957...
The 1967 comedy spoof wasn't meant to be serious...

MGM finally got the rights to make the movie, and they did so with aplomb...

15. Is that available anywhere?
Have you seen it?
According to Wiki it was 1954.

8. Yep
:D Although, to be fair, I guess I should say he looks more like Daniel Craig's slightly nerdy little brother...in a very cute way, though. ;) It's gonna be a good semester. :hi:

10. I thought the new one was one of the worst Bond movies.
It actually made me lose respect for the character. The acting was sparse and boring. It portrayed Bond as a weak, brutish fool. Weak plot. Just horrible by Bond standards.

11. THose are the reasons why it was the best
They're building up the character again, and Brosnan should be strung up by his balls for the absolute shit he spoonfed the masses

12. Bronsan was excellent. He acted.
They were certainly the most politically relevant bond movies.

18. Comparing apples and oranges. One really has nothing to do with the other.
I watched the David Niven/Peter Sellers Casino Royale today, and thought it was a real hoot. It's not hard to see where Mike Myers got his inspiration for Austin Powers.
