The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 1/25/08
"Finding A Long, Gray Hair"

I scrub the long floorboards
in the kitchen, repeating
the motions of other women
who have lived in this house.
And when I find a long gray hair
floating in the pail,
I feel my life added to theirs.

6. Life is about balance. I don't believe in ripping people's emotions up
two nights in a row.

7. I've selected poems that tell more of her story for the February group.
So again, I remind my readers: Buckle up.

11. ummm
okay.

Did you read that poem?

It tasted like metal. aluminum. bat. razor. fin. bedlam. brute. sometimes it's hard to talk about poetry in a reasonable language. I wonder if you're ever supposed to.

12. That feels like wonderfully positive.
And that's quite an accomplishment for a poem about something as mundane as scrubbing the floor. Wow!

:)
I'm very impressed.

13. I love poems about housework.
Perhaps I will bring more of them to the poetry breaks, I don't know. There are only so many days in a month, I don't like overwhelming people with multiple threads, and I have so many great poems I want to use.
