My farewell letter to my beloved West Hollywood ....

As y'all might know, I'm moving this weekend out of Weho. Even though it's only about 5 miles away, it's a big change. My love to Weho:

It's with mixed emotion for me to say good bye to West Hollywood. My partner and I will be moving to Silver Lake this weekend.

I moved to WeHo in 2000 when I met my the love of my life. I came from San Francisco and had to deal with all the jokes from my friends ... "oh god you're moving THERE?". But they did not have a clue as to what a wonderful place West Hollywood is.

As a young man growing up in Bakersfield, WeHo was my first "party town". I still have my button from the 1984 city-hood election that I will always save with pride.

I was "liberated" from Bakersfield to SF in 1986 and never thought I would find a city that I loved as much as I did San Francisco. I was wrong.

When I moved to West Hollywood in 2000, I not only fell in love with the greatest love of my life, I fell in love with a wonderful loving community.

I'm going to miss walking a few steps from my condo to see the pride parade, Halloween and run into Abbe, John, Jeff and all the city council out and about.

It's so hard to say good bye. But Abbe told me when I saw her on the street "Once West Hollywood, always West Hollywood" and I'll aways keep that in my heart.

One in Silver Lake and one in West Hollywood (how odd is that, considering ronny's post) so I will have to buck up and make what will be a very tough trip one of these days. I will let you know when. The more I have to do, and people to see, the better. I would love to meet you as well. :hug:

...then moved to NYC. But, as great as Weho was/is, if I moved back to L.A. it would be to Silver Lake. You'll dig it. Happy moving day!
