Grrrrr!! Anyone know how to block a phone number???
I am so annoyed. I'm working at home today and my phone has been ringing non-stop and when I answer it there are just beeps. That's it.. nothing more. I hang up and a few minutes later it rings again. This has happened about 30 times already today. Does anyone know how to block a phone number from calling? I did *69 and the number came up as 305-356-2997 but when I plugged it into a reverse directory all it tells me is that it's from N. Miami, FL. Anyone else ever had this happen?

1. Betcha it's a fax machine.
I had that happen a couple months ago. I forwarded my number for a few hours to my fax machine, got the printout and called the offenders. Never heard from them again.

A Google of your number says you aren't alone.

2. Also, I found this on a forum about this number:
HOW TO REMOVE YOUR NUMBER: Please read page 3 on this website, as it explains (in details) all the information needed regarding calls from 305-356-2997. Otherwise, send an email to support@venali.com, with the subject: Nuisance Call, and our customer support team will be more than glad to contact the sender to have them remove your number from their address book. Venali’s services enable users to send and receive faxes by utilizing our lines, as all faxes are intended to be submitted to a phone number, not a phone line. We take these matters seriously.

Thank you,
Venali Support Team

We apologize for any inconveniences that this issue might be causing. Venali’s services enable users to send and receive faxes by utilizing our lines, as all faxes are intended to be submitted to a phone number, not a phone line. Venali takes these matters seriously, and are thoroughly working on solutions to help mitigate the severity of this problem. We can assure you that Venali does not conduct spam/unsolicited faxing or condone activities which may be deemed public nuisance. For this reason, we are eager to share with you the root causes of this matter, providing you with effective solutions and preventative measures, and ask to facilitate and collaborate eliminating this inconvenience for you and others.

In the same manner, through thorough investigation with substantiate and collective information derived from people like you, and responders of these incidents sent to the Venali Customer Support Department, at support@venali.com, we have found three most common scenarios (but not limited to), which have best described the root causes of these unfortunate occurrences. These are:
1. Someone with the wrong intention signed up online with Venali and operates in violation of their terms of service agreement by conducting illegal unsolicited spam faxing. When those customers are discovered by Venali their account is immediately terminated.
2. Existing-valid customers are unintentionally faxing to an incorrect fax number by misdialing the numbers.
3. An unknown company or malevolent party is using our caller id number: 305.356.2997, which will be displayed on the recipient’s phone to mask their number, as the number could have been programmed into their fax machine.

Moreover, Venali understands the annoyance of these unsolicited calls to voice lines; for this reason, we have been working on implementing preventative measures. In fact, if you are not expecting to receive a fax or are receiving fax tones to a voice line and believe the number to be a Venali customer fax number, please report this to Our Venali Customer Support Team by sending an email to support@venali.com, with subject: Annoyance Calls. Our Customer Support Team will immediately investigate and identify the customer associated with the fax number and take appropriate action. If it was determined that it was a legitimate fax, but sent to an incorrect fax number, Venali will contact the customer advising them to discontinue faxing to the incorrect number and to contact the intended recipient.

Furthermore, in the case that a valid customer is inadvertently calling a voice line, our policy is that we give the customer a 24 – 48 hour grace period to remove the number before disabling their account. If it appears that a Venali customer was attempting to send unsolicited faxes, had malicious intentions, or the calls do not appear be an accidental misdial, Venali will contact that customer and will terminate their service. In addition, Venali has parameters for all non-commercial/non-enterprise customers, which limit the number of faxes senders may send per transmission. Additional limitations are set as we monitor charges generated within a given period that is detected as a potential unsolicited account.

Consequently, we ask for your assistance and cooperation in circumventing the capture of these undesired calls by contacting your local phone company to trap the source of the caller and sending an email to our support team at support@venali.com. If you see or hear about complaints from people whom are also being affected by these unfortunate occurrences, we encourage you to spread this knowledge, as it would be greatly appreciated. We can effectively work together decreasing the number of these disturbance calls, and anticipate any engagement endured, to better isolate and hopefully soon resolve this matter. We thank you for your support as we continue to improve our processes and our systems to be the most operationally excellent fax vendor on the market. If you would like to know more information about Venali and our faxing services, please feel free to visit our website at www.venali.com.

Sincerely,

5. Thanks to you also.
I knew DU would have an answer. I was too pissed and distracted by the calls to figure it out myself. Thanks.
