I have been reading the post about one Fred Phelps. What exactly is he?

Is he just some poor derange soul that bullies the dead or is he part of some anti-Hollywood movement? I do not really keep up with this type of strange people.

Frederick Waldron Phelps, Sr. (born November 13, 1929) is the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), an independent Baptist church in Topeka, Kansas. Phelps is also a disbarred lawyer and founder of the Phelps Chartered law firm. 2. A piece of pond-bottom dwelling slime.

He's the leader of an ultra-extreme 'church' whose entire 'theology' is based around institutionalised homophobia. The 'church' consists almost entirely of his extended family.

A few years ago, he started to picket the funerals of gays who had been queer-bashed to death - waving signs proclaiming that the deceased was now rotting in hell, his favourite slogan being the blasphemous "God hates fags".

Then he decided that 9-11 was allowed by God because America is tolerant of gays - adding the new slogan of "God hates America" he also started to picket soldiers' funerals.

4. He's a dreadful blight on society and I think we should just ignore him

and maybe he'll go back to the rock he came out from under. Seriously, I don't understand why we let sickos like him get to us. His behavior is deplorable but instead of getting upset and giving him the attention he craves I think we should just pretend he's invisible.
