Execpt I'm taller and more shapely.

I'm looking at a picture of me and daddy circa about 1965. He's sitting in a chair and I'm standing on his head. It was a favorite activity. Interestingly, my face hasn't changed that much.

12. 12 years old, watching Ed, jumpin' up and down on my bed
Mom let me watch it, but wouldn't watch it herself, so wheeled the ol' black and white with the rabbit ears into my bedroom to watch it. I remember jumping up and down on my bed to the great music (and I was no longer a small fry at 12). Talk about excitement! Great to have the memories flood back. Don't forget Motown in that era! Some great music.

13. Watching Ed Sullivan.
I was seven. We had seen the film clips on Walter Cronkite's news and heard the news reports on the radio. My dad, 30 at the time, said, "We have to make sure to see that." And he made sure we did.

No matter how he and I locked horns over stuff later in my adolescence, I've always remembered what a cool dad he was in early 1964.

How's THAT for a reply?! ;)

I was born with a ventricular septle defect, VSD -- layman's terms, a hole in my heart. Took 'em four tries, but they fixed it. My mother claims I was the first infant in California to undergo this surgery. I don't really have any way of verifying this.

34. Wow! you were young. I had VSD repair in 1967
when I was five. I had mine done at Duke Medical Center and they were not doing infants at that time. Do I remember everything? Hell yes!

Do you have other problems today? Besides the VSD repair, I still have two other wonky valves that may go on me at some point, but then again may not.

35. only problems today are
a murmur, obviously caused by the surgery (they cut through a bundle of nerves), and obesity, obviously NOT caused by the surgery. ;) My heart's in great shape.

You remember?! Damn. I don't remember a thing.

Do your valves make you nervous? Any talk of replacing them? How's your health in general?

39. General health is pretty good
Replacing valves? Not so far. I have both aortic insufficiency and MVP, so that's two murmurs. The AI isn't really a bother, just sounds noisy. The MVP does contribute to some profound fatigue if I don't keep up with the exercise.

I try to do some aerobic activity at least 3x-4x/week. Usually walking. If I work long enough, I can get up to a kind of slow jog for short spurts. I do some mild weights, b/c I can't control my weight without gaining muscle.

I had been overweight most of my adult life. But I'm controlling my weight well now with the Atkins plan. I eat most everything except high flour content, high sugar content, and high starch content. That let's go of most breads, grains, most legumes, potatoes, rices, cookies and cakes of course. If I eat candy or other sweets, I eat the sugar-free stuff.

Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 02:22 PM by Lostmessage
My Mom and Sister had Ed Sullivan on and they were going nuts over the Beatles. My Mom wasn't screaming like my Sister was but she fell in love with them and she couldn't let me Dad know about it or he would have gotten mad at her because she was only suppose to like country music.
(My Mom played the Rolling Stones, 10 years after and other 60's music when he wasn't around)

I had just received a Pug Puppy for Christmas and I was playing with my Sinbad in the living room floor. I had on my training panties and no top. I remember drinking my bottle and swinging it by the nipple from side to side and playing with my very curly hair. I got my fingers stuck in my hair on many occasions from constantly playing with my curls.

That day I decided that I was a Stones fan well the Stones weren't out yet but I became a Stones fan when I was a kid all the way up to Get Your Ya Ya's Out.

46. Sheesh, y'all are babies!
:P

I was a senior in high school. I had heard about the Beatles from my British pen pal, and had listened to them on CKLW, a radio station that boomed into Cleveland from Canada. (Canadian stations were playing the Beatles earlier than American stations did. But before too long, you could switch around stations and ALWAYS be listening to the Beatles!)

So on that fateful Sunday evening I went to my best friend Laura's house, so we could watch the otherwise-dorky Ed Sullivan show. We were far to sophisticated...lol...to scream, but we had fun watching, and then talking about them afterwards.
