Thieves Steal ONLY The Kitchen Sink
<snip>

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Thieves have been known to steal everything from construction sites but the kitchen sink.

On Wednesday, that changed.

Police said burglars took only a stainless steel sink with chrome faucet and the attached garbage disposal from a house under construction on the city's east side.

"I can retire now," quipped police Lt. Ray Rexroat.

Steve Staub, executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines said construction sites are being looted harder and more often, fueled in part by a building boom and the high cost of materials.

1. When we were building...
my husband had, on 2 seperate occasions, 2 guys just walk into the house and look around. This happened well past the framing in stage. He started bringing our dog with him.

Whoever stole the sink, etc. probably walked off with about 8 or 9 hundred bucks worth of stuff.

2. Thieves will regret stainless steel grab!
The only way you can make modern stainless shine is by cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. Even normal tap water spots stainless with cloudy, dingy looking crap.

Smarter thieves would have scouted for those really expensive farmhouse porcelain goodies!
