I cant help it---the Grammys inspire me
As I watched the Grammys last night, as usual, I was filled with an optimism that comes to me through music. I awoke with these thoughts:

Watching the Gs last night it occurred to me that there is a connection between some of the events of our lives over the last few weeks.
The Grammys, aside from its obvious commercial trappings, is a celebration and recognition of a force in our lives. Music, be it R&R,R&B,C&W,Folk or Funk, Bach or the Beatles---The MUSE---, is more than a simple Dionysian diversion. It is a presence of love and understanding that, not unlike Buddhas' lotus blossom, can awaken us to our true sense of beauty. It is a source of knowledge and understanding.
As I was watching this celebration the obvious absence of JJ gave me a hint of how powerful and pervasive our MUSE is becoming.
By now we have seen or heard of the "event" that occurred during the half time show of the SB the previous week.
While accounts may differ, Ms Jackson dared to bare herself before this nation, a nation whose very symbol of Justice and the search for Truth lies enshrouded. Her breasts, the symbols of our freedoms' nourishment, hidden from our awareness.
Ms Js' stand was an act of freedom and defiance for all of us and in doing so she exposed us to a Hypocrisy that has crept into the very fabric of our society, a Hypocrisy that is epitomized by the very nature of the SB itself. A game where chemically enriched young men play games to enrich a very few who are trying to sell us the potential chemical enrichment of our lives. This same few who got rich selling the world their WMD and are now getting richer sending other young men into battles in order to retrieve these same weapons, while we collect our rewarded of a tiger in every tank and now a tiger in every pair of shorts, if I may so paraphrase Mr GSH.
And I do not mean to further dismiss our friend GS but I think that the revolution will not only be televised but it is on live every day in each of our lives, if we just open our eyes and ears to see and hear the beauty that is surrounding us.
