River Phoenix or Adrienne Shelly. But whether its drugs or murder, its a shock!

41. Reminds me of River Phoenix...
recent interviews/pics of him show that he wasn't in a very happy place...

Incredibly talented actor though...

RIP...

17. yes
the 10 minutes on the news devoted to his death is a huge, planned, organized conspiracy to cut the story all the networks were going to do on the economy.

Christ almighty.

8. Terribly sad. New York Times has this story.
This is all they have so far:

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/22/actor-heath-ledger-is-found-dead/index.html?hp

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body.

That's awful. One of the things that made "Brokeback Mountain" such a favorite of mine was Heath Ledger's performance as Ennis. It was truly unforgettable.

Very sad news.

44. Yes, and trying not to put up a spoiler.....
The scene of Billy Bob cleaning up his recliner gave me the idea that Billy Bob should star in something called "Redneck Housecleaning Hints" co-starring "Duct Tape--the All-Purpose Solution".

He and Jake Gyllenhall were so wonderful in Brokeback Mountain.

45. If you havent seen him as the Joker yet...
I've been following him very closely lately because I'm very excited about this movie, so I was very shocked when I logged on this afternoon and saw the news. He is going to be amazing in this movie, although it will feel a bit strange now to watch:

47. He was one of the few celebrities I admired as a celebrity.
He could act, and he was clearly very intelligent about the roles he took and how he played them. He wasn't afraid to play someone gay, without resorting to camp. And he could reduce me to tears.

I rarely comment on celebrities unless people are being really outrageously hostile towards them. But I'll comment about Heath Ledger. I'll miss him. I'll miss his talent.

Think of all the movies he won't ever get to make.
Think of the daughter who will grow up without him.
Think of his family and friends.
