1. Be prepared to be ignored
when he comes back :D

He'll be fine. Only the trips to the vet from now on will be tough ....

2. I don't want him to ignore me
when I took him in, he was very quiet in the cage and car ride. When we went into the room, he started growling and when the nurse took him out to weigh him WOW he got really mad and hissed and spit and would only let me hold him.

I signed for extra pain meds if he needed it

3. Is he your first kitten ever?
Cats tend to ignore us when we do something they don't like. But that doesn't last long ... the second they are hungry they are really nice again

4. he is my first kitten in like 25 years
we had them growing up but never did any neutering/spaying ect...they just lived in our house and if they had babies, so be it...

This is my first in my adult life that I really care about

my 16 year old daughter gave him to me for my birthday. in our 18 years of marriage and our 20 year togetherness, we haven't had a cat because hubbys step mom is allergic.

we finally said, they don't come over often enough to worry about it SO.... for my birthday I got spooky

5. What a sweet b-day gift
don't worry too much. He'll be fine. But he sure has character.

My late cate was a black one too. She had character too .... only at the vet she didn't show it like your guy

7. And nothing can ignore you as totally as a cat. When my third
child was born my kitty ignored me for 3 weeks. She even made it a point to be nice to people she had never been friendly with before. She would go so far as to sit about 3 feet from me with her back turned. When I spoke to her, she would twitch her ears a little, but she would not acknowledge me. She finally got over it when she realized that the baby wasn't going away and then she acted as though nothing had ever happened.

14. When mine was at the vet for surgery, the reaction was the opposite
He was sleeping when I arrived and as I was talking to the secretary, he barely opened his eyes.

That night, he was like velcro on me. Stayed really close.

I think they avoid you if you give them a bath, or medicine or something like that, but if they are away from you and something happens, they will stick to you --I think.
