On Brett Favre:
Being an avid Minnesota Viking fanatic for 40 years (and therefore, a Packer Hater), I must say that I hope tonight was Brett Favre's last game. That would make his last attempted pass an interception that gave the game away. (And, yes, I hate to say it, but he might be the best QB to ever play the game.) And, at least I can take some consolation that the Vikings kicked the Giants butts all over the field in their own backyard this year.

Just felt the urge to say that. Carry on.

1. Yes, the fact that the Vikings beat the Giants this year is some consolation.

2. !
:hi:

I'd like to see us get a deep threat, another shut down cornerback, and perhaps even Donovan McNabb.

8. You very well might be.
Especially with the Packers/Bears rivalry. The Vikings, a 47-year-old franchise, are still the new kids on the block in the NFC North.

11. it's a family thing
I was a GI brat and us first three kids were tight in age - one brother 11 months older than me, one 11 months younger. The oldest was born in England an adopted the team of my dad's home state (Minnesota). I'm a native Illioisan so I like the Bears. The younger one was born in Wisconsin so he's a Packer fan. But I like all three. :)

6. One correction: Brady is the best QB to ever play the game.
Though I loved Grogan and Flutie never got a fair shake.

9. simply not true
Favre's stats far surpass those guys, and everyone else. He threw a lot of interceptions, including that dumb heartbreaking one today, but his TD's and yards are unsurpassed.

24. As a Pats fan it pains me to disagree with you. Give Tom another decade or so
and then we'll be able to give him the title. For now, I do think it's Favre's.

I would take Joe Montana over Brady any day...or Johnny Unitas.

should fans take consolation in that?

Wow, it was so long ago I can hardly remember. Well, at least the Vikes can take solace in all those Superbowls they've won.

Oh wait...

14. I really don't understand the Favre hate.
I know that people like Madden have on-air orgasms whenever they talk about him, but he is fun to watch and he loves playing the game. You can see that on his face every Sunday. He understands that it's a game, and I respect him for that.

After the season he just had, it is definitely NOT time for him to retire. He can still outplay 90% of the quarterbacks out there.

15. Wow - what a total assholish thing to say.
Guy has a brilliant, stellar, incredible career, and you want his career to end with a game losing shitty pass.

Jesus.

I despise and loath the Bears, but do so because they're assholes, esp. in the 80s McMahon/Fridge/Ditka Super Asshole era - despise them for who they are, and for where they're from - but even I had the decency to be glad that Payton finally got a Super Bowl Ring.

Christ.

19. That's a Vikings fan for ya
I don't understand what the problem is with their fans. We've always had good times when most teams come to Lambeau, even rivals like the 49ers, Cowboys and Bears. But there always seems to be trouble when we're playing the Purple ... er ... Kittens,

22. You think he's retiring?
He was a 47-yard field goal in overtime away from the Super Bowl, playing on the (otherwise) youngest team in the NFL. This is a squad that was 4-12 in 2005, 8-8 in 2006 and 13-3 in 2007. I can't speak for Brett, but if it were me and I felt like I could still compete at a high level (ask the Seahawks if they think that's possible) there's no way I would retire.

I can't quite explain it, but that's why the Packers lost.
