1. Agreed
He's got no real singing talent to start with...

And WTF was he doing going out of his way being a boob once again about the boob? He'd said the same thing, in the news, many times before this unexpected win. He's a phony as far as I'm concerned, even if there's nothing about pulling off a bare boob, I don't think he's being honest.

Neither do the tv and b-movie stars who speak their cue card lines like robots.

This is an award ceremony? Seems too planned out and devoid of life AND SPIRIT.

It's all phony and fake, as are most of these televised ceremonies. (hey, was there any talk of security issues to make sure this nonsense was protected from all them evil terrorists?)

4. I was going to turn it on for the Beatle tribute.
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 09:08 PM by Norbert
I don't think I'll bother now

Harrison and Zevon left a highly impressive body of songs that will live on.

Timberlake will only be famous for exposing JJs boobie. Big Deal!

11. I got lucky - I flipped past and saw Sting and Matthews
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 09:20 PM by lunabush
on stage doing I saw her standing there with Vince Gill (I think it was him) and a drummer I don't know. It was ok, closest thing to fair I can imagine on what sounds like the usual puke awards show.

Very sad not to see Zevon get his props for his best LP in years. And, of course, no more.

They would, no matter who won. Talk about whores....

Hey, the 'puke' emoticon is inadequate here! We need one for 'dry heaves'.

7. Further Evidence the Corporate Music Industry is in its Death Throws
Prince opens the show with a medley of 20 year old songs.

Sting performs a 25 year old song.

They are looking at their past, no matter how many awards Justin Timberlake grabs.

10. I certainly hope so.
I do not see how current top-40 could possibly get much worse. Staind?? Three Doors Down?? Are they SERIOUS????

BTW: I am listening right now to a super college radio station on the web: wrvu.org. It's Vanderbilt's station in Nashville. It is not top-40, believe me! :-)

19. Normally I would agree with you here Dookus but...
considering the impending results with Timberlake over George Harrison and Warren Zevon, true musicians, I will not waste a single second even giving the Grammys a once over. It's straight to a DVD tonight and bed early.

16. The Grammy's
... have had their head up their bum for years and years. It is not about anything other than present record sales.

The recording industry has all but killed music. Where is the talent that was around 30 - 40 years ago? Where are the Beatles, the Joni Mitchells, the Hendrixes, of this generation?

The artists are still out there, but the recording industry kills any real talent in favor of image and what they think is mass appeal.

I sincerely hope downloading KILLS the effing parasites in the recording industry. They should all be flipping burgers in hell.

George C Scott was right about award shows. And, as it turns out, about the recipients.

26. An outrage
Justin Timberlake isn't worthy to carry George Harrison's, Michael McDonald's, Warren Zevon's and Sting's sheet music to the recording studio, let alone step foot on any stage they're occupying.

I know I'm old, because I don't find Timberlake talented by any stretch of the imagination.

On the other hand, I detest the vocal stylings of one Celine Dion on any other day, but her rendition of Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" left me a tear-dripping mess earlier tonight.

I also enjoyed the Black Eyed Peas, a group I had never previously heard...

27. Timberlake is a talented boy
But not that talented.

For one thing, he is still a producer-driven artist. He needs to grow a pair, take a year off, hang out at house and warehouse parties and squats in university towns and redneck bars and African Methodist churches and learn what music is really about.

I have no dislike for the guy, but for Justin Timberlake to win out over giants like Harrison and Zevon makes no sense at all.
