Anyone watching the Grammys?
(Or is that Grammies?) And if not, would you guys like live updates? I'm watching, and won't mind doing it like I did for the Golden Globes. Actually enjoyed it.

21. No, I am listening to a wonderful 'college radio' station on the internet.
It's WRVU in Nashville, Vanderbilt's radio station. They play 'real' alternative, and even though I am 53, it's still my favorite music.

Now, when the Grammy's honor artists such as I am enjoying right now, instead of Linkin Park, Three Doors Down, and Beyonce (?!?!?!?!?), then I will maybe watch the show. But I am not holding my breath. Has Three Doors Down won best song yet?? They are truly ghastly, IMO. Oh, what has Staind won so far???

52. It is supposed to be raw, noisy and messy. It is
70's Detroit garage band music. It is very true to the sound and feeling of the era.

You had to be there.

You also have to be shit-faced on Boone's Farm wine and Mexican smoke.

29. They've got some 2-bit pop band finishing now
Seems like a hacked and lifeless grunge ditty. The music was noise and the lyrics were incomprehensible. The background red effects were pseudo-60s and also uninspiring. Probably just as intentional as the music being played.

Maybe it's just me, but music should either have a coherent message in it and/or be spirited and exciting, rich in melody but active and exciting. I can't stand romantic crap or lifeless monotone sounds.

84. Usually the Grammys suck but this show is great!
The funk set even got to this old acid rockster.

Of course that must mean that Funk, Hip Hop, Rap is now mainstream and about to die a long death.

85. Sarah Maclachlan... really off tonight
I saw her on the Today show doing this song a few months back, just her and her piano... and she did it much much better.

91. I admit - not much
From what I've seen, it seems like there's a lot of hip hop and other styles I don't like. For the people who know my taste - how many artists I love were there? If I missed out, at least hanging out at DU isn't so bad. :-)

They did a montage of all the musicians who had died this year. Man, tough year.
