Please enlighten me, what is the big deal about breasts?

From Janet Jackson being made out to being the Evil Reincarnate (and Justin Timberlake getting no blame either) to breasts being used to sell everything under the sun in this very hypocritical country, I still don't get it.

I have breasts. BIG DEAL!!! They are just breasts. They are part of me and my body. They can be sexual but breasts are also for feeding children.

So, what is the deal about them. Are men so infantile that they can't think of breasts without conjuring up sexual thoughts? And women, have we let society dictate to us to be ashamed of our breasts while at the same thing telling us we have to be sexy for men so they will be with us?

I am so confused....help me...

Really though, I think the major thing at play here is that there is a mystique about breasts, since neo Victorian society insists that they be hidden. If breasts weren't hidden, they probably wouldn't be coveted. Also, there is the subliminal 'food' fixation, as your first experience with a breast is as a food source.

I was thinking about this point on Monday, I realized just how prudish we are as a society. Somewhere in the past our culture decided we needed to have everything covered at all times and that anything else was unacceptable. We need to progress above and beyond this narrow range of thought, and embrace ourselves for who we are? I was watching a rerun of the show "just shoot me" the other day, and it had a theme about how two characters freaked out when they realized how big a co-worker's penis was. Maybe all of this in our culture was a way back in the day to hide the fact of small penises..who knows??? :shrug:

As we age we (hetero guys) do in fact - I believe - and according to studies I have seen on the subject -- Go from being nourished physically by these beautiful orbs to being entranced and aroused by them.

It is not just an infantile thirst for them but a healthy male adult desire. Obviously they play a significant genetic role in mating and the signals for provcreation and just poiun pleasure to maintain the species.

The fact that males will pay attention to anything that jiggles and looks like these female attributes endlessly and almost tirelessly means that we can be exploited and subliminally seduced into paying more and more to get whatever it takes to have these fabulously wonderful things nearby and within our eyesight.

I say it is meant to be enjoyed by all of us.

Heck, with all the porn (and what happened was nowhere NEAR porn) available in books, tv and the net, all the hoopla over one boobie popping out in public only shows the immaturity of the nation.

In Ontario, a new law, not taken advantage of very much (darn) allows women to go topless in public.

It was fought for and won on the basis that it is not illegal for MEN to go topless in public, so was in contravention of our Charter of rights to force women to "cover up".

And don't furget, the mainstream media has to avoid sensationalizing all the death and destruction going on at the hands of their "leaders".

Heaven forbid that the general population to face the REAL SERIOUS issues that their government has brought to bear.

Back on to this paranoia about our bodies being "seen"

Why the hell do we have to wear them? Everyone has nipples; people know what they look like. Bikini tops show how big someone's boobs are... so one can easily imagine what's going on behind the top. Some men have boobs bigger than me (not to mention, a lot of men ARE boobs); why can they show theirs off and I can't? :mad:

If I wear a normal bra and a shirt that isn't a tent on me, my nipples stick out. If I wear a padded bra, my breasts look huge, 38C/D but 125 pounds, 5'5''. Evidently some other women would like either of these scenarios to be true for them.
I've been self conscious about my breasts ever since when I was 11 some boy that road the bus with me accused me of stuffing my bra. when I said that I didn't even wear a bra, he said that I'd be like Dolly Parton in a few years. Maybe, I should have started wearing a bra before I hit a B cup.
