My dog has a pet cat
My dog Mick is a pure bread Austrialian Shephard, from what I've heard they're real violent towards cats. He was raised along with a six toed Minx cat that we named Suzie. She would beat the hell out of him as a puppy everytime he got out of line.

Yesterday we discovered that he's adopted a stray orange and white cat as his pet. It sleeps in his blanket on the porch, it stays by his side at all times and get's along better with Mick than the other cats.

I don't have any pictures I just thought this is funny.:D

4. Our cat has a pet dog.
In fact, she's raised 3 dogs.
They groom themselves and try to walk along the back of the sofa. Sometimes they fall off.

5. We had a cat that did that
When I was young we had a cat that gave birth to dead kittens. We had adopted a German Shephard puppy and she raised it like one of her kittens. The cat and dog got along real well.

6. I've not heard that about Aussies
I've known a couple, and they both loved to play and wrestle with cats.

7. Our dog and one of our cats are best friends.
Today my S/O took the cat out in the snow on a leash, and the dog
was ecstatic to have his buddy out there in the snow with him.

The cat was less pleased to have a 70 lb dog leaping wildly around him.

8. I have an Australian Shepherd
And even though right now she's too old to care about the cats, she's never really had a problem with them. Although the cats would maybe have a problem being herded around the yard.

9. We had a Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix...
And he and the cat would just lay around in the yard...Then the dog had a puppy(Of course, by the female dog we had. lol), and the cat had a kitten. They were best friends. Sadly, they were killed on the highway behind our house because they ran wild because we live in the country. Broke my heart. Those were the best dogs we ever had. God, I miss them.

10. My aussie loves cats.
She's convinced my 2 cats, and my 2 hens, that she is "safe." If she gets too energetic in her enthusiasm, they smack her down; and she instantly drops to her belly and holds still. When she stays calm, they let her bathe them. Sometimes the tom tries to antagonize her into getting excited, just so he can show her again who is boss; he sways back and forth in front of her, waving his tail under her nose, egging her on...

She shares the yard with 2 free-range hens. She's never bothered them. She'll herd them; she'll try to get them to play; but she won't chase.

Aussies, in my experience, aren't violent towards anything. They bond tightly to their family, and may be a little stand-offish with strangers, (although Rain is not), but not at all aggressive. They do want to herd things. For my Rain, who is only 10 months old and hasn't been taught to "work," this involves gathering the hens and moving them towards the feeder, as if they needed her encouragement, at feeding time. And, when out on a long group trail ride, she circles around the group, stopping at each horse, dog, and person, like she's counting heads. Then reports back to me and starts all over.

Rain's mother, father, and sister live with 9 cats. They love to wash and play with any who will allow it, and respect the space of those who won't.

Mick has appropriated the stray as a member of his "herd!"

11. I have a Aussie/border collie mix...
he is 13 now, but I used to have cats and he would "herd them". I swear, he loved them. I think he counted them, and made sure they were all there. Both Aussies and border collies are almost too smart....definitely points above * on the IQ....

13. Awww!
My son has a huge orange cat he picked up as a stray, his name is Indiana Jones. They call him Indy for short. They got a Chihuahua mix a few years ago. At first Indy wanted nothing to do with Max, but now Indy lets Max clean his ears and loves every minute of it.

For the record, my yorkie has a pet human, me! :-)
