Why doesn't everybody do ballroom dancing?
Seriously, in what other activity can you hold in your arms a pretty woman whom you have only known for two hours, close enough that your bodies are touching, moving around the floor to Fly Me To The Moon?

When you get it right, that is. After only two classes, we don't get it right all the time. But when we do it's fucking awesome. This is the sexiest thing I have done except for sex itself.

6. Practice, hon.
I joined a beginner's class. We have only learned two steps, the foxtrot and one other that I still haven't caught the name of. I like that. The instructor said he wanted us to know the basics first before teaching us more steps. I wholly agree.

I guess it can be tough to dance with someone if you're way better than they are, unless they have tons of patience. Or if they're an instructor.

At swing dance class, I got paired with the tallest guy there, about 6 5", and I swear he just flung me around the room. :D

I don't know if I am taking Emily for a test drive  but dancing with her is a lot of fun.

She's with someone but he could not be persuaded to come dancing with her. Pffft. If he doesn't want to dance with her, I sure do.

Emily is the right height for me, just a couple of inches shorter. And she's the prettiest girl there. :D

53. Lots of Contra in UK. It's very social and friendly and easy to
learn. (Usually just need the free lesson before the dance).
You might like it a lot.

Check out http://www.sbcds.org/contradance/whatis/ to get a good idea about contra.

Check out definitions 3 and 5 especially.

You are correct-- it is great fun. The problem I've found is that there aren't many places one can go, short of weddings, to do it, especially if one is younger than 60ish. :hi:

17. I am going to beginner's classes in the evening once a week.
It has probably been made popular by Strictly Come Dancing, the British equivalent of Dancing With The Stars.

There is a mix of ages there, probably mostly middle aged to retired people, but Emily seems to be about my age so it's all good. There are a few younger people too, and a couple of kids.

I've actually gone to a Seniors dance (they even let us in!) and everyone was not only really nice, but it was amazing to watch them dance!

Also, go check out rockabilly shows if you like swing, or find a good Latin night if you like Latin dancing. You'd be surprised where you can sneak in the occasional move, not to mention that a lot of pop songs are still cha-chas or tangos or what have you.

Even went into shows and competitions as well. Won first place in the Rhumba.

It got a little bit expensive so I quit... I haven't been dancing since... I keep seeing adverts in the paper and I am very tempted to start up again and break in my shoes once again.

It is actually a great way to lose weight as well!

Rhythm isn't located in any specific part of the body. You either have it or you don't, and if you do then it can express itself everywhere!

I know, you're probably thinking, "How can someone so awesome and sexy be bad at something like that?"

And if you weren't thinking that, I was. :P

But it is my curse. I just have some kind of mental block when it comes to dancing. I can do a karate kata flawlessly. I have incredible balance, great reflexes, and after spending the last three years working in a warehouse I'm as strong as an ox. (figuretively speaking... I think an ox could probably kick my ass if it felt so inclined to do so.)

But for some reason, dancing is just beyond me. I don't know why.
