3. Paradise by the dashboard light!
Guitar: Todd Rundgren
Piano: Roy Bittan
Bass: Kasim Sulton
Drums: Max Weinberg
Saxophone: Edgar Winter
Baseball Play-by-Play: Phil (Scooter) Rizzuto
(All-Star Yankee shortstop and voice of the New York Yankees

1. PARADISE
BOY:
I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!
Thought it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light

GIRL:
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Ain't no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed

BOY:
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed
Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun
And I gotta let you know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run
And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!

Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Paradise by the dashboard light
You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
'Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely-

We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go all the way
And tonight's the night...
We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go all the way
And tonight's the night...

RADIO BROADCAST
OK, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker going here,
Two down, nobody on, no score, bottom of the ninth,
There's the windup, and there it is, a line shot up the middle,
Look at him go. This boy can really fly! He's rounding first and really
turning it on now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna try for
second; the ball is bobbled out in center, and here comes the
throw, and what a throw! He's gonna slide in head first, here he
comes, he's out! No, wait, safe-safe at second base, this kid
really makes things happen out there. Batter steps up to the
plate, here's the pitch-he's going, and what a jump he's got,
he's trying for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt-safe at
third! Holy cow, stolen base! He's taking a pretty big lead out
there, almost daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher
glances over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted down the third
base line, the suicide squeeze is on! Here he comes, squeeze
play, it's gonna be close, holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!

II. LET ME SLEEP ON IT
GIRL:
Stop right there!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
Do you need me!?
Will you never leave me!?
Will you make me happy for the rest of my life!?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife!?
I gotta know right now
Before we go any further
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?

BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning

GIRL:
I gotta know right now
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further
Do you love me?
And will you love me forever?

BOY:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you an answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it

GIRL:
Will you love me forever?

BOY:
Let me sleep on it

GIRL:
Will you love me forever!!!!

III. PRAYING FOR THE END OF TIME
I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you!!

BOY:
It was long ago and it was far away
And it was so much better that it is today

GIRL:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like
A metal on the edge of a knife

5. dido- white flag, joss stone- fell in love with a boy
I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

But I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up in surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules that "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

But I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All I was then
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

****

Fell in love with a boy
I fell in love once and almost completely
he's in love with the world
and sometimes these feelings can be so misleading
He turns and says "are you alright"
oh i must be fine coz my heart's still beating
come and kiss me by the riverside
Sarah says it's cool she dont consider it cheating

I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh

red hair with a curl
mellow roll for the flavour and the eyes were peepin'
can't keep away from the boy
the two sides of my brain need to have a meeting
can't think of anything to do
my left brain knows all love is fleetin'
he's still looking for something new
i said it once before but it bears repeating

I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh

ohh woo
can't think of anything to do
my left brain knows all love is fleetin'
he's still looking for something new
i said it once before but it bears repeating

I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh

I fell in love with a boy
I fell in love once and almost completely

and sometimes these feelings can be so misleading
He turns and says "are you alright"
oh i must be fine coz my heart's still beating
come and kiss me by the riverside
Sarah says it's cool she dont consider it cheating

Don't go telling all my..
Don't go telling all my..
Don't go telling all my lies on Sarah
Don't go telling all my..
Don't go telling all my..
Don't go telling all my lies on Sarah

I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohhhh

can't think of anything to do
my left brain knows all love is fleetin'
he's still looking for something new
i said it once before but it bears repeating

I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohh I..i..i..ohhhh

Gonna tell you what's on my mind

36. True Companion - Marc Cohn, the Walking in Memphis guy
It was our wedding song. Makes my husband cry like a baby. Me too.

Baby i've been searching like everybody else
Can't say nothing different about myself
Sometimes i'm an angel
And sometimes i'm cruel
And when it comes to love
I'm just another fool
Yes, i'll climb a mountain
I'm gonna swim the sea
There ain't no act of god girl
Could keep you safe from me
My arms are reaching out
Out across this canyon
I'm asking you to be my true companion
True companion
True companion

So don't you dare and try to walk away
I've got my heart set on our wedding day
I've got this vision of a girl in white
Made my decision that it's you allright
And when i take your hand
I'll watch my heart set sail
I'll take my trembling fingers

CLICK ABOVE TO VISIT OUR SPONSORS

And i'll lift up your veil
Then i'll take you home
And with wild abandon
Make love to you just like a true companion
You are my true companion
I got a true companion
True companion

When the years have done irreparable harm
I can see us walking slowly arm in arm
Just like the couple on the corner do
'cause girl i will always be in love with you
And when i look in your eyes
I'll still see that spark
Until the shadows fall
Until the room grows dark
Then when i leave this earth
I'll be with the angels standin'
I'll be out there waiting for my true companion
Just for my true companion
True companion
True companion

10. "I Know How the River Feels" by Diamond Rio
Shortly after we fell in love, Mrs. V. sent me a tape of song she said made her think of me. I was bowled over, cried through the first three or four listenings. "I Know How the River Feels" was one of them (another was "Amazed" by Lone Star.... so many moving love songs. What a woman).

Until I met Mrs. V. and had a reason to listen to it, I hated country music with a passion that only the ignorant can possess. Knowing her has shed me of a great deal of ignorance, in many areas of life. I love that woman.

Good thread.

12. You Make Me Feel Brand New - The Stylistics
You Make Me Feel Brand New

My love
I'll never find the words, my love
To tell you how I feel, my love
Mere words could not explain
Precious love
You held my life within your hands
Created everything I am
Taught me how to live again

Only you
Cared when I needed a friend
Believed in me through thick and thin
This song is for you
Filled with gratitude and love

God bless you
You make me feel brand new
For God blessed me with you
You make me feel brand new
I sing this song 'cause you
Make me feel brand new

My love
Whenever I was insecure
You built me up and made me sure
You gave my pride back to me
Precious friend
With you I'll always have a friend
You're someone who I can depend
To walk a path that never ends

Without you
My life has no meaning or rhyme
Like notes to a song out of time
How can I repay
You for having faith in me

13. Attics of My Life - Grateful Dead

In the attics of my life, full of cloudy dreams unreal.
Full of tastes no tongue can know, and lights no eyes can see.
When there was no ear to hear, you sang to me.

I have spent my life seeking all that's still unsung.
Bent my ear to hear the tune, and closed my eyes to see.
When there was no strings to play, you played to me.

In the book of love's own dream, where all the print is blood.
Where all the pages are my days, and all the lights grow old.
When I had no wings to fly, you flew to me, you flew to me.

In the secret space of dreams, where I dreaming lay amazed.
When the secrets all are told, and the petals all unfold.
When there was no dream of mine, you dreamed of me.

This was our first dance song at our wedding..

15. Rescue me or Bury me
By Vai..

RESCUE ME OR BURY ME

Summer nights such lonely times, this memory does bleed
I need you in my life again
Fantasies release me from the bondage of my fate
The days pass like the falling rain

Your eyes reflect like mirrors the beauty in your soul
But anger shatters precious glass
Can't you recall the intimate secrets that we truly shared
The faith and trust we swore would always last

I only have myself to blame, you know it takes my breath away to see you cry
To love I implore, I scream in the air, claw at my chest, rip out my hair
Embrace me or let my spirit die

Chorus:
Rescue me or bury me, rescue me or bury me

(Solo)

Time is like a prison cell, for those whose crime is loneliness
When freedom's banging at their door

When all has been said and done, you must decide swallow your pride
And reach out and take these hands forevermore

(chorus)

24. "Still"
by Lionel Ritchie

Baby, morning’s just a moment
And I will argue once again
You laughed at me
You said you’d never need me again
I wonder if you need me now

So many dreams that float away
So many words we didn’t say
Two people lost in a storm
Where did we go, where’d we go

Lost what we couldn’t find
You know we laid each other down
But then most of all
I do love you still

We played the games that people play
We made our mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You need me ‘cause I needed you

So desperately
We were too blind to see
But then most of all
I do love you still

(sigh)

31. "Let's Stay Together"
.. by Al Green, my favorite soul vocalist of all time.

Let's Stay Together

I, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is all right with me
'Cause you make me feel so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Since, since we've been together
Loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue

Let's, let's stay together
Lovin' you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad

Why, why some people break up
Then turn around and make up
I just can't see
You'd never do that to me (would you, baby)
Staying around you is all I see
(Here's what I want us to do)

(repeat to fade):
Let's, we oughta stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad
