although I use scissors, (used to) knit, and (used to) play the violin right-handed.

But I write and eat with my left hand, and it took me years as a kid to learn to shake hands right-handed.

My grandmother was always kind of embarrassed about my left-handedness, and she'd say things like, "Couldn't you just TRY using your right hand?"

And I'd say, "No, because it feels weird."

Fortunately, my parents were more enlightened.

I never got to the point on that one where I could put it exactly where I wanted it but it's a good sucker pitch. Easier on the arm than a curve too. Snapping the elbow and twisting your wrist. Youch after about 50 of those.

Although when I was in grade school, it was the thing to force lefties to learn to write with their right hands. Sick, huh? So I write with my right hand (after severe torture as a youngster) and do EVERYTHING else (except crochet) as a lefty. Eat, throw and hit a ball, you name it.
