Tonight on tap at Tavernertavern: He'Brew Bittersweet Lenny's RIPA

For a beer boasting for an obscene amount of malt and hops, this sure is a smooth, mellow, nuanced beer. From what I heard, Lenny Bruce was not a nuanced comedian. He was harsh, in your face and obscene. This beer is anything but - which is a good thing. Very balanced, unlike Hop Rod (another Rye IPA), this one is mellow and perfect.

Better than RedHook, better than Gordon Biersch, better than Pyramid even!

Hats off to Sam Adams who can craft a great lager (and I hate lagers!), an amazing Imperial Pilsner, and some great ales!

3. Have to disagree about Red hook

I lived in Seattle for a lot of years and I loved Red Hook. I also really dig Pike Place Pale Ale. Good stuff! I'd go into more detail, but I'mgetting pretty buzzed.

It was amazing. Really strong grapefruit aroma and flavor. Very bitter hops. You would really like it.
Next time you are in the DC area go to Pizza Paradiso in Georgetown. They have an awesome beer list and the best pizza in the DC area.
