I am a blue collar boy that has to wear a white collar now. And I really do not know what I am doing.

1. not sure, but here's a tie tip. never bother untieing a tie. just loosen it enuff
to get it over your head.

2. Well.... this might help...
First, is it real silk? If it is, try to steam it a little on the back of the skinny side of the tie (where you won't see it) to see if the wrinkles will relax a little. To steam it, just hold your steam iron above the tie, don't touch it.

If it isn't real silk, you could try using a "press cloth." I use a man's white handkerchief, for example. Put it over the tie and use a low temp to see it you can press out the wrinkles. If it isn't working, try increasing the temperature a little at a time. Just do not put the hot iron directly on the fabric of the tie.

The best thing would probably be to take the tie to a dry cleaner, though. Good luck with the new job! :hi:

3. Heavy starch and a real hot iron.
Naw, just kidding.
Try nuking it?
;-)

If your shower's hot enough to make steam, hang the tie out of the spray and let 'er rip for a while.
