NightTrain sent me a WONDERFUL Valentine's Day gift!

As many of you know, Dean (NightTrain) and I are one of the DU "couples". Unfortunately, we live 555 miles apart, and have never actually met in person, although we've talked a lot on the phone and emailed frequently.

That will change during his birthday weekend of March 19, when we plan on meeting in PA, halfway between our respective states (he's in CT, I'm in OH).

Anyway, I recently received his Valentine's Day gift in the mail, and just wanted to share it with DU, our second family. First, there was the lovely card, which was just perfect (not too sappy or serious, but not too trite or over-the-top humorous/vulgar, either). And tucked inside the card was the gift itself, a special CD he'd burned himself, of the original version of "I Only Have Eyes For You"; the CD itself was labeled a Valentine's Day 2004 dedication from him to me.

This is the first Valentine's Day gift I've had in about fourteen years (I've hated VD day during that time, since I was always alone), and let me tell you it is SOOOOOOOOOO nice to not only receive one again, but such a special one from such a neat person as Dean is REALLY wonderful! I felt just like a little kid at Christmas when I opened it.

I didn't think it would ever happen, but this time, it looks like it finally has! It's just taken 39 years, that's all.

VERY anxious for March 19, BEYOND anxious, frankly, lol! I still can't believe it's finally, really, happening, but it looks like it is, and he's just the neatest, greatest guy! We've emailed pics, but I wouldn't care if we hadn't, I'd still feel the same way!

and I'm an expert in dreading VD day, so I know what you mean. I was prepared this year for yet another day of watching seemingly everyone else get flowers/gifts (the office deliveries are the absolute WORST, let me tell ya, lol!), and have just a good 'ol romantic time, everyone except me, that is. And since it falls on a Saturday this year, I'd planned to hide out the whole damn day and night.

But you never know what can happen, and when. People have been telling me that for years upon years, and I always resented it because usually they already had someone and were usually happy. But now I know why they were always saying it!

15. One small correction

The original version of "I Only Have Eyes For You" was recorded in 1934 by Ben Selvin. What you have on the CD I made for you is the 1959 doo-wop version by the Flamingos.

Being an obsessive/compulsive type, I just had to point that out! :D

Sorry, babe, I stand corrected, lol! It's a great song and a wonderful gift, so it doesn't really matter to me which version it is, though!
